Episode Summary
Nie Xiguang and Zhuang Xu share a long walk and clear up some misunderstandings about her background, but she decides to move on from her crush. Her brother takes her to the UK to heal. Upon returning, she rejects her father's offer to work at his main company to avoid family drama, opting instead for a subsidiary branch in Suzhou. Meanwhile, Zhuang Xu crosses paths with Lin Yusen in the business world. At her new job, Xiguang expects her new boss to be an old man, but a late-night encounter in the office proves her wrong.

The Long Walk Home
The episode kicks off right where we left off. Nie Xiguang and Zhuang Xu miss their bus. It’s awkward. Ye Rong calls Zhuang Xu, and he admits he’s with Xiguang. Ye Rong tells them to grab a cab, but here is the kicker: neither of them has any cash. They have to walk all the way back to school.
This walk turns into a massive clearing of the air. Zhuang Xu asks why she didn't use the thesis data he found. Xiguang admits she thought he was just doing it to apologize for Ye Rong. She didn't want his pity. Then they dig deeper. Xiguang knows he thinks she is lazy and spoiled. She sets the record straight. She grew up in the countryside too. Her parents just overcompensated later in life.
Zhuang Xu actually listens. He admits he might have missed out on someone important. Xiguang, being Xiguang, assumes he is talking about Ye Rong again. It’s frustrating. They get to the dorms. She waves goodbye. In her head, she is finally closing the book on her college crush.
A British Getaway
Jiang Rui steps up as the best brother ever. He moves up their trip to the UK. He wants to distract Xiguang from her post-graduation blues and her fear of heights. They spend a few days wandering around before his program starts.
The trip works. Xiguang has a realization. Life is just a series of stops. You take a picture, and you move on. You can't force things that don't belong to you. She seems lighter. She is ready to let the past go.
Family Politics and Job Offers
Back in China, reality hits. Xiguang’s mom, Jiang Yun, notices her daughter lost weight. They talk business. Xiguang has a couple of job offers. One is from a company called Shuang Yuan in Wuxi.
Here is the twist. Jiang Yun reveals that she and Xiguang’s dad founded that company together before they split. Her dad, Nie Chengyuan, has other plans though. He wants her to come to the main headquarters, Yuan Cheng, and prepare to take over.
Xiguang goes to see her dad. He is in the middle of stalling a deal with the Sheng Yuan Group. He tries to recruit her again. She shuts him down hard. She tells him she doesn't want to see "certain people" at his office. That is a direct jab at his current wife. She says she only listens to her mom.
Her mom agrees. She doesn't want Xiguang caught in the middle of their messy divorce history. She tells Xiguang to take the job at the Suzhou branch of Shuang Yuan. It’s a job she got on her own merit.
Suits and Old Acquaintances
We get a glimpse of the corporate world. Zhuang Xu is working for Huaya Bank now. He tags along for a meeting with the Sheng Yuan Group. Lin Yusen is there too, representing Sheng Yuan.
Lin Yusen recognizes Zhuang Xu. They met at a job fair a year ago. Back then, Zhuang Xu was submitting a resume for a girl. Lin Yusen asks about her. Zhuang Xu just says she went abroad. It’s a small world.
The New Job and the "Old" Man
Xiguang heads to Suzhou to start her new life. She moves into the dorms and meets her roommates, Yin Jie and Wan Yuhua. She keeps a low profile. Nobody knows she is the boss’s daughter.
Two weeks fly by. Yin Jie is already complaining about the lack of hot guys at the factory. But the rumor mill is buzzing. A new manager is coming from headquarters. Supposedly, he is gorgeous. He used to be a surgeon before switching industries.
Xiguang rolls her eyes. She figures a former surgeon switching careers must be a greasy, middle-aged man.
Later that night, the dorm internet crashes. The girls are desperate to finish their show. Xiguang loses a game of rock-paper-scissors and has to go to the office to download the episodes. The office internet is acting up too. She crawls under a desk to check the cables. Suddenly, the lights flip on. A very handsome man is standing right there.
