Ye Xiaopeng enters a speech contest. The topic is "My Mom." He decides to get creative with the truth. He describes his mother, Wu Ya, as a perfect figure. He claims she is gentle and beautiful. He says she balances a successful career with a happy home life.
The reality is much different. Wu Ya is a manager at her company. She is swamped with work. She leaves early and comes home late. She has zero time for her son. The classmates know this. They call him out right in front of everyone. They point out that she missed the parent-teacher meeting. Xiaopeng is humiliated. He has nowhere to hide.
The Absent Parent
