Episode Summary
Tong Qiu lies to his parents about a promotion and rejects a large bribe from his boss. He gets drunk and crashes in Ma Weiguo's room, annoying him. The neighbors wage a petty war against Ma Weiguo over bathroom usage and noise, but Ma Weiguo discovers he knows the neighbor's niece from his time in the US. Wang Chunsheng's son makes money livestreaming, causing family tension. Tong Qiu confesses his failure to his wife, who brings up a potential overseas job.

The Money and the Lie
Tong Qiu is playing a dangerous game with his family. He tells his parents he got that big promotion. They are absolutely thrilled. His mom is so happy she even hands over some special medicine to help speed up the grandchild process. But the whole thing is a lie. He just wanted to see them smile. He walks out of the house feeling pretty miserable about the deception.
Things get weird immediately. A fancy car is parked at the alley entrance. It’s President Qiu. He has been waiting for Tong Qiu. He invites him into the car. Tong Qiu tries to keep his distance, but the boss doesn't care. President Qiu opens a suitcase filled with cash. He puts it right in front of Tong Qiu. It is a clear bribe. Tong Qiu might be desperate, but he isn't corrupt. He refuses to sell his integrity for a box of money. The boss looks shocked that the cash didn't work.
Roommates from Hell
Li Lianbao is out shopping with Tongtong. He is not having a good time. She keeps taking photos of everything with her camera. He thinks she is wasting her time and needs to find proper work.
Tong Qiu needs a drink after rejecting that suitcase. He hits the bottle with Wang Chunsheng. They run into Li Lianbao and Tongtong. Tong Qiu starts venting. He tells everyone that Ma Weiguo is trying to kick his family out immediately.
Later that night, Wang Chunsheng and his wife Li Jing argue about their kid. Wang wants the boy to focus on college. Li Jing thinks they need to back off and lower the pressure.
Tong Qiu goes home drunk. He refuses to squeeze into a room with his parents. He marches into Ma Weiguo’s room and crashes there. This is a disaster for Ma Weiguo. He is on a serious video conference with his company about moving business to overseas markets like India and China. It is hard to look professional when a drunk guy is snoring loudly in the background.
The Bathroom War
The next morning is rough. Ma Weiguo needs the bathroom badly. The house doesn't have one, so he has to run to the public toilet. It is rush hour. He can't get a spot. Wang Chunsheng sees him coming. He decides to be petty. He occupies a stall and refuses to leave. He sits there until his legs go numb just to block Ma Weiguo.
Ma Weiguo gives up and tries to nap during the day. The neighbors won't let him. Li Lianbao starts making noise outside. Then Wang Chunsheng joins in. They are actively trying to ruin his sleep.
Then things take a turn. Li Lianbao’s niece, Jin Tong (Tongtong), walks in. She and Ma Weiguo freeze. They know each other. They met back in the US. Ma Weiguo is shocked to see a familiar face during this difficult "countdown" phase of his life.
Old Friends and New Hustles
The group goes to the hospital to visit Little Aunt. She wants to go home. Ma Weiguo agrees, but everyone else thinks she needs to stay for safety. It gets awkward when Little Aunt’s son-in-law shows up. He tries to hustle Ma Weiguo for business connections. Ma Weiguo is too polite to tell him off. Surprisingly, Wang Chunsheng steps up. He blocks the guy and saves Ma Weiguo from the situation.
Wang Chunsheng has his own problems at home. His son Wang Fei goes missing. The parents panic. The kid eventually comes back and flashes a bank card. He made 20,000 yuan livestreaming. He is proud of himself. His dad is furious. He wants the kid studying, not acting like an internet celebrity.

Tong Qiu finally comes clean to his wife. He admits he didn't get the promotion. She is actually cool about it. He tries to set a romantic mood in the bedroom. His parents interrupt the moment to deliver "baby-making soup."
