Episode Summary
The group struggles to cope after Grandpa Tong's funeral. Tong Qiu falls into a depression and tries to give his assets to his wife, feeling like a failure. Ma Weiguo pushes himself to finish tasks for Jin Tong, fearing he won't survive his upcoming surgery. Li Lianbao is so stressed about money he briefly loses Yuanyuan.

Dealing with the Aftermath
The funeral for Grandpa Tong is over. The reality of the loss is starting to settle in. Everyone is heartbroken. Zhang Xiaoshi takes Tong Qiu home, but he is not the same guy right now. He is silent. The old cheerful spark is gone.
Xiaoshi suggests they bring Grandma Tong to live with them. She worries about her mother-in-law being alone. Tong Qiu is worried too. He decides to stay with his mom for a few days. Xiaoshi gets it. She supports him completely.
Ma Weiguo is having a hard time too. He sees the empty chair in the yard where Grandpa Tong used to sit. He remembers all the life lessons the old man shared. It hits him hard.
Ma Weiguo's Health Scare
Ma Weiguo wakes up the next day feeling terrible. His vision goes blurry. He struggles to get out of bed and takes some medicine. We learn some bad news here. He went to the doctor recently. He agreed to the surgery, but the doctor told him he missed the optimal time for it. That is a heavy blow.
He goes looking for Jin Tong to get a photo frame. She notices he looks haggard and exhausted. She is worried about him. But Ma Weiguo is on a mission. He is frantically helping her with the decorations for her art exhibition. He is rushing to finish everything. It looks like panic.
A Close Call for Li Lianbao
Li Lianbao picks up Yuanyuan. He is distracted though. He is constantly on the phone trying to sell his house to scrape money together. He is so focused on the call that he ignores the kid. He actually drives off and leaves Yuanyuan at a restroom.
Panic sets in when he realizes the child is gone. He drives back as fast as he can. Luckily, Yuanyuan is a smart kid. She waited right where she got off the car. It is a relief, but it shows how stressed Li Lianbao is right now.
Tong Qiu Hits Rock Bottom
Wang Chunsheng visits Grandma Tong with some food. She asks him to check on Tong Qiu. Tong Qiu has been avoiding everyone. He leaves early and comes home late to avoid talking to Xiaoshi.
He is driving a ride-share car to stay busy. Bad luck strikes. He picks up a drunk Manager Jia. Jia recognizes him and starts spewing insults. He is nasty. Tong Qiu finally snaps and kicks him out of the car.
He feels terrible, but a text from Xiaoshi lifts his spirits a little. He goes home to a big dinner she made. Then he does something drastic. He transfers the house, the car, and 50,000 in savings to Xiaoshi. She panics. She thinks he wants a divorce.
Tong Qiu explains he just feels like a failure. Manager Jia got in his head. Xiaoshi refuses to give up on him. She hands him Grandpa Tong’s unfinished script and diary. She hopes this will give him a purpose.
Friends Try to Intervene
Tong Qiu is still depressed despite Xiaoshi's efforts. She knows the run-in with Manager Jia caused this. She asks Wang Chunsheng and Li Jing for help. They try calling him. Tong Qiu ignores the phone.
Wang Chunsheng goes to Ma Weiguo for advice. But Ma Weiguo is obsessed with the picture frames. He won't stop working. Jin Tong explains the situation. Ma Weiguo has been acting weird since Grandpa died. His surgery is coming up. He is terrified he won't wake up. That is why he is rushing to finish his tasks.
Wang Chunsheng sees Ma Weiguo is in no shape to help. He tries to find Li Lianbao, but he is busy too. Everyone is fighting their own battles right now.
