"Home about Us" Episode 29 Recap & Spoilers: Let's Talk About It!
Alright, so this episode picks up with some heavy family stuff and matchmaking chaos.
First off, Qin Tianyue and Feng Qingming head over to Zheng Yunfeng's parents' little shop. They're trying to smooth things over and explain the situation, likely about Yunfeng's romantic life. But his parents are really digging their heels in. They are adamant about finding a partner for their son who doesn't have any disabilities.
Here's their reasoning, which is kind of heartbreaking: Zheng Yunfeng wasn't born deaf-mute. When he was a kid, his parents were super busy with their business, and he got a high fever while home alone. Nobody was there to take care of him, he missed the crucial treatment window, and that's how he lost his hearing and speech. Because his condition isn't genetic (unlike congenital deaf-mutism, which they worry could be passed down), they are dead set on him marrying someone "healthy" to avoid any perceived hereditary risks for potential grandkids. It's a tough spot, rooted in their past guilt and specific fears about genetics.
Meanwhile, Li Lefan has landed a new client, a Mr. Song (later identified as Song Hao). This guy's been trying his hand at entrepreneurship, but it sounds like he's mostly struck out. Now, he's in a massive rush to find a girlfriend, and the reason is pretty grim: his dad has cancer and only about three months left. Mr. Song desperately wants to find someone, anyone, to settle down with quickly so his father can pass away peacefully, knowing his son is settled.
He pushes Li Lefan to pack his schedule with dates. She does, but it's not going well. He meets three women back-to-back in one day, and none of them are feeling him. Ouch.
Back to the matchmaking duo, Qin Tianyue and Feng Qingming visit a special school where all the students have disabilities. The principal reached out specifically hoping they could help his teachers find love. Apparently, the teachers are so dedicated to their demanding jobs that their personal lives fall by the wayside. Qin Tianyue, ever the businesswoman, offers them a discounted rate.
Feng Qingming cleverly uses this opportunity to ask the principal if the teachers would be open to dating someone with a disability. The principal's response? Absolutely not an issue – his own wife has a disability. Hearing this brings a satisfied smile to Feng Qingming's face. You can see the wheels turning!
Qin Tianyue and Feng Qingming seem totally in sync here. They quickly identify one of the teachers, Miao Miao, as a potentially great match for Zheng Yunfeng. She has simple requirements for a partner and, crucially, she knows sign language. Perfect on paper, right?
Mr. Song (Song Hao) goes on another date. This time, it's a woman who turns out to be one of his father's former students! She's now a language teacher, seems very gentle and cultured, but Song Hao isn't interested. Why? Because he specifically doesn't want to date someone local from Ningzhou. After this date, he has a chat with Li Lefan and seems to have a lightbulb moment: she fits his criteria! She's single, not from Ningzhou, and an only child. He starts dropping hints, but Li Lefan is completely oblivious and doesn't realize he's suddenly seeing her as a potential match.
Now for the big setup: Miao Miao and Zheng Yunfeng meet. They hit it off immediately, communicating easily with sign language, and even exchange contact info. Things seem promising... until Zheng Yunfeng drops a truth bomb online later. He confesses to Miao Miao that he's already in love with someone else – a woman who is congenitally deaf-mute, which is exactly why his parents disapprove so strongly. They've been dating in secret.
Miao Miao appreciates his honesty. She agrees to help him keep up appearances with his parents for now, basically pretending they're hitting it off, but she warns him this isn't a real solution. Zheng Yunfeng's strategy? Go on a bunch of these arranged dates, fail spectacularly enough times, and hope his parents eventually give up and accept his real relationship. So, Miao Miao and Zheng Yunfeng decide to fool everyone for the time being and tell people they're going to keep seeing each other.
Naturally, Zheng Yunfeng's parents are over the moon when they hear the "good news." Qin Tianyue and Feng Qingming are also pleased, thinking their matchmaking worked perfectly. Little do they know...
Later, Miao Miao actually meets Zheng Yunfeng's secret girlfriend. Plot twist! It turns out the girlfriend is an illustrator whose work Miao Miao has been admiring online without knowing who she was. Seeing an opportunity, Miao Miao suggests the girlfriend could potentially work as a part-time art teacher at the special school. Zheng Yunfeng encourages his girlfriend to give it a shot.
Oh, and amidst all this romantic maneuvering, there's a little check-in on Ma Jie and Fang Ye. Things are apparently getting rockier between them. They have very different lifestyles and habits, leading to constant arguments. The kicker? They haven't even been intimate since they officially got together. Yikes.
So, Episode 29 leaves us with a fake relationship underway, a client potentially falling for his dating consultant, a secret girlfriend getting a potential job opportunity thanks to the "fake" date, and another couple hitting some serious bumps. Plenty of threads to follow!
