Dear Enemy: Episode 24

Spoiler Alert

So, things kick off with Chen Kaixi ready to call it quits with Chen Mian for good. While he's in the shower, she pulls out an outfit for him that’s ridiculously ill-fitting. At first, Chen Mian just thinks it’s a bit snug but then the penny drops – he suspects Chen Kaixi has found someone else. She doesn't deny it and flat-out tells him they're done with the whole "husband and wife" charade. This is it, the final nail in the coffin. Chen Mian, naturally, is furious and realizes Fang Chi is the reason his carefully laid plans went up in smoke. If Fang Chi hadn't tipped off Chen Kaixi, none of this would be happening. So, in a fit of rage, he goes and gives Fang Chi a beating.

Reeling from the drama, Fang Chi decides he’s had enough of this city and applies for an overseas assignment through the hospital. When Luo Man hears Fang Chi is planning to leave, she calls him. It’s a pretty brief conversation, though – just a lot of mutual well wishes and not much else. Later, Luo Man finds herself alone at that Japanese restaurant/bar she used to love, trying to drown her sorrows. And who should walk in but Zhou Musun? They lock eyes, share a smile, and he slides into the seat next to her like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

Luo Man, never one to beat around the bush, asks Zhou Musun how he reacted when he found out the money was gone. She even guesses he probably went ballistic, and she’s not wrong. Zhou Musun admits that when he woke up the next morning and discovered the money was missing, he immediately knew Luo Man was involved but didn't call her. Surprisingly, though, he’s not holding it against her now; in fact, he seems almost relieved.

Luo Man lays her cards on the table, saying she knows Zhou Musun had feelings for her, but even that little bit of affection, he managed to factor into his schemes. Zhou Musun is genuinely surprised and questions what Luo Man gained by helping Chen Kaixi get the money. Luo Man’s response? Not everything in this world can be measured in profit. She tells him that he and Chen Mian are cut from the same cloth: selfish, cruel, and cold. Zhou Musun doesn't deny her assessment but counters that, in his opinion, all men are the same, even the seemingly good guy Fang Chi, whom Luo Man currently has a soft spot for.

Fast forward to the premiere of the documentary, which turns out to be a huge success. The director throws a launch party, and Luo Man is there, scanning the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Fang Chi. Just as she’s about to lose hope, Fang Chi bursts through the door like a ray of sunshine. This time, Luo Man is way more forward, no more of that deliberate avoidance. Seeing her so proactive, Fang Chi starts to think maybe, just maybe, Luo Man’s into him too.

Then it’s New Year’s, and Luo Man, Chen Kaixi, and Zhong Qingcheng are celebrating together. Zhong Qingcheng, by the way, is now a bona fide superstar with a massive following. Amidst the festivities, Chen Kaixi drops a bomb: Chen Mian wants to buy back the shares she holds. Chen Kaixi hasn't decided what to do yet and plans to play hardball. Meanwhile, Zhou Musun and Chen Mian are also having a New Year's hotpot, and surprise, surprise, they’re talking about women. Chen Mian reflects on his relationship with Chen Kaixi, admitting he has a lot of regrets. Zhou Musun is also feeling a bit down, confessing that he genuinely liked Luo Man.

Later, as the three women are watching the documentary, Fang Chi pops up on screen. Chen Kaixi and Zhong Qingcheng start teasing Luo Man about him, but she just plays it cool, pretending she has no idea what they’re talking about. Zhong Qingcheng has to dash off for work, leaving Luo Man and Chen Kaixi alone. Chen Kaixi then grills Luo Man about her current situation with Fang Chi and whether she sees a future with him. Luo Man admits she thinks Fang Chi is still too young, and their age gap is significant. Plus, after her history with Zhou Musun, she’s still a bit guarded, afraid of getting involved with someone similar. Even though Fang Chi seems like the polar opposite of Zhou Musun right now, who’s to say he won’t change down the line?

Just as Luo Man is drifting off, her phone starts blowing up with WeChat messages. She checks it and sees that Fang Chi has posted a photo of them sitting together at the hospital. Even though it’s a picture of their backs, people recognize them. Luo Man rushes to the hospital to find Fang Chi. The moment they see each other, he pulls her into a hug, and just like that, they’re officially a couple!
