Plot Synopsis
Twenty years back, we meetLi Jie. She's this super-smart law student, topof her class, everything going for her. But then, herprofessor,Zhao Zhenghua, makes some seriously inappropriate, coercive moves. Li Jie, being the strongperson she is, refuses. And what happens? Her shot at grad school? Gone.Poof. To make things a million times worse, her own roommate,Zheng Nan, throws her under the bus, falsely accusing her of academic misconduct. Just like that, Li Jie is expelled.
Heartbroken and carrying a heavy secret (we're talking a secretpregnancy here, folks!), Li Jie vanishes. She rebrands herself asLi Yimingand dedicates her life to raising her daughter,Li Anle, all on her own.
Fast forward two decades. Li Anle is now a young woman starting her career at aplace called Arc Light Media. And then, the unthinkable happens – history casts its ugly shadow. This sends Li Yiming on a mission. And theplot thickens! Li Yiming also finds out that her old "friends," Zheng Nan andWen Shan, are dealing with their own silent battles. Zheng Nan, despite being a high-powered lawyer at aprestigious firm, is drowning in apersonal and ethical quagmire. And Wen Shan? She's living a lie in a marriage of convenience, all for the sake of business appearances, maintaining a completely sham marriage.
This is where these three women, Li Yiming, Zheng Nan, and Wen Shan, decide they've had enough of the charades. They're ready to tear off their masks. Li Yiming finally confronts the devastating truth of the rape she endured and that was swept under the rug for so long. Zheng Nan, wrestling with her own moral compass, steps upand delivers the crucial evidence needed to fight back. And Wen Shan? She leverages her business savvy and resources to drag all the corruption and dark secrets into the light.
So, what we're looking at is a story about how thepast never really stays buried, the fight for justice againstpowerful abusers, and ultimately, three middle-aged women finding their voices and strength by banding together. Sounds like a rollercoaster, and I'm definitely here for it!
