Episode Summary

A sudden change of heart, a grandmother's arrival, and the high cost of custody.
Just when Li Xiaoxiao and Xu Kaixin were fuming over Qian Dami's seemingly ungrateful behavior, things took an unexpected turn. Kaixin received a call from Dami, who urged her not to be angry about their earlier exchange. Dami explained that her father, Qian Hao, had a change of heart, treating her exceptionally well and even paying for all her tutoring classes. Stunned by this reversal, Kaixin simply reminded Dami to be careful before the call ended.
Moments before, Xiaoxiao had been lamenting her wasted kindness on Dami. But upon hearing the news, her attitude did a complete 180. After her beauty treatment, she immediately dragged Kaixin to the mall for a shopping spree to buy gifts for Dami.
Meanwhile, Qian Hao's mother, Qin Sulan, tracked down Kaixin's cake shop. She arrived bearing fruits, supplements, and toys, announcing she was there to see her granddaughter, Xiaomi. Sister Lili, fearing a custody snatch, instinctively shielded the child. Xiaomi, however, showed no recognition of her grandmother and bluntly stated that Qian Hao had never paid a cent of child support. In response, Qin Sulan quickly tried to explain, pulling out a bank card with a substantial amount of money on it.
Elsewhere, family tensions were running high. Over the weekend, Youyou's father brought his two other children over, and the house was soon in a state of chaos. When he found Youyou still asleep, he couldn't help but knock on her door, his complaints and frustrations seeping through to her. Youyou's mother, ever protective of her, started arguing with her husband. Overhearing her parents fighting, Youyou was overwhelmed with irritation.
The drama continued with Hu Xiaojiao, who received a call from her uncle inviting her and Qian Hao for a meal. Knowing her uncle wouldn't be pleased if they brought Dami along, Qian Hao gave Dami five hundred yuan for pocket money and sent her back to Kaixin's place. Xiaojiao did some quick math and realized the true cost of their recent efforts. Between the tutoring fees of over sixty thousand yuan and the shopping spree, they had burned through nearly seventy thousand. She pointed out to Qian Hao that if they continued spending at this rate, they would be bankrupt by the time they got custody. The reality of the situation finally dawned on Qian Hao, and he agreed that something wasn't right.
In another part of town, Mei Chengyi navigated to Xu Kaixin's "Kaixin Cake Shop." He explained that he works in the events department of an e-commerce company. The products Kaixin saw on his phone, which led her to believe he was a player and a cheat, were actually items for an upcoming Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day) live-streaming event. He presented a valid product inspection report, and Kaixin, realizing her mistake, quickly apologized. However, Chengyi wasn't looking for an apology or a clarification; he simply wanted Kaixin and Xiaoxiao to stay out of his life.
Later, Mei Chengyi went to his in-laws' house to pick up his children, only to find they had already been taken out. He noticed Youyou seemed off and had a heart-to-heart with her, helping to resolve some of her inner turmoil. During their conversation, Chengyi learned something unexpected from Youyou: her father had seen a photo of Xu Kaixin. This meant that if Chengyi wanted to continue his acting gig, he had no choice but to ask Kaixin to pretend to be his girlfriend again.
After a tense meal at Hu Xiaojiao's uncle's house, where it was clear the uncle saw right through him, Qian Hao dropped Xiaojiao off and went straight to his mother's place. The shrewdness of his own family made him rethink his strategy. He decided to take a different approach to win back custody of his daughter.
That evening, after putting his two daughters to sleep with a story, Mei Chengyi was left to clean the messy living room alone. As he sat down, he recalled his conversation with Xu Kaixin and couldn't help but find it amusing. She claimed to be looking for a "high-quality family partner," but from his perspective, it seemed more like she needed a "housekeeping partner."
Meanwhile, Hu Xiaojiao waited at home for Qian Hao to return, but he stayed the night at his mother's. This led to a huge fight over the phone, and Xiaojiao stormed out, not returning all night. When she came back the next morning, Qian Hao was already home. She lied to cover her absence and quickly went into the bathroom to check the hickey on her back.
