To Get Master Ep. 16: Pacts, Proposals, and Hidden Keys
The martial arts world gathers at Fengyu Valley for the Houlang Conference, where tensions run high from the start. Chu Meng Die arrives with a heavy heart, resolved to surrender the second volume of the coveted "Xiao Yao Jue" scroll. Her goal is to unite the sects against the growing threat of the Demonic Cult. Her presence immediately unsettles Baili, who, after a few drinks, retreats from the welcoming banquet, clearly avoiding her.
Later, Chu Meng Die finds him, demanding to know why he didn't see her off when she left Fengyu Valley. Baili confesses his true feelings: he wants to make a name for himself and stand as her equal, strong enough to protect her. Taking this as a proposal, Chu Meng Die corners him into a pact. He must win the upcoming tournament; if he fails, he will be at her mercy.
Meanwhile, a different kind of alliance is forming. Gu Yuan surprises Li Song'er with a ring, cleverly tricking her into agreeing to both be his wife and his partner in the tournament. After he slips the ring on her finger, he carries her into her room for the night. The next day, he reveals his tragic past. He takes her to his family's derelict former home and explains how his family was unjustly framed as the "Demonic Cult" by those who stole everything from them. Hearing his story, Li Song'er becomes fiercely determined to help him reclaim his family's honor and belongings.
The tournament begins with a clever challenge: pairs are locked in separate rooms and must find the correct key to escape. By chance, Baili is paired with Chu Meng Die, and Gu Yuan with Li Song'er. Inside their room, Gu Yuan seizes the moment, convincing Li Song'er to sign a formal marriage contract. They find a key, but it fails to open the door. In the adjacent room, the observant Chu Meng Die quickly deduces the key's location by recognizing that a decorative lantern is a map of Fengyu Valley. She finds a key hidden beneath an azalea pot, but like the other, it doesn't work. Just as they hit a dead end, Baili recalls a letter given to him by Nan Wentian. He opens it to find a shocking revelation: Nan Chui Meng is secretly colluding with the Demonic Cult. The letter not only urges Baili to win the challenge at all costs but also reveals the true location of the key.
