Knowing his fate is sealed, Gu Yuan orchestrates a series of heart-wrenching goodbyes to protect those he loves. He sends an unsuspecting Li Song'er on an errand to a funeral parlor, weaving a tale about planning their future together once he has recovered. With this gentle deception, he pushes her out of the immediate danger he is about to face. He also releases his childhood companions, Liu Yingying and Han Yan, from their lifelong bond, telling them it's time to live their own lives. Though they are reluctant, they respect his wish to build a new life with Li Song'er.
Meanwhile, Chu Meng Die faces her own conflict between duty and family. Her father, Chu Wuyuan, is gravely ill in a small fishing village, and the doctor can offer no hope. With the major sects gathering and pressuring her as the Wulin Alliance Leader to deal with the Demonic Cult, she must leave him behind. She entrusts his care to Baili, and the two share a sorrowful farewell, heavy with unspoken emotions.
Her departure creates a fatal opportunity. Nan Wentian, bearing a deep-seated grudge against Chu Wuyuan for previously sparing Gu Yuan's life, is informed of his location. He descends on the village and finds a man broken by madness, a sight that brings him cruel satisfaction. When he moves to kill the vulnerable Chu Wuyuan, Baili bravely intervenes. Tragically, Baili is no match for Nan Wentian and is fatally stabbed. Just as the final blow is about to fall, Bai Wuxie arrives and convinces his senior brother to spare the now-harmless Chu Wuyuan. They depart with their old master, callously leaving Baili to bleed to death on the ground.
The episode culminates at the Sun Moon Palace, where Gu Yuan awaits the arrival of the sects.
