The episode begins with the newly married couple, Lan Yangyang and Zong Qing, navigating their new life. Lan Yangyang’s attempt to make a special breakfast for Zong Qing doesn't go as planned, but he lovingly eats every last bite anyway. Her hopes for a romantic honeymoon abroad are dashed when Zong Qing explains that he can't travel too far in case he is urgently recalled to his military post, leaving her feeling disappointed.
Meanwhile, a parallel storyline follows journalist Tang Xin and officer Wu Si. Wu Si calls Tang Xin, but she is preoccupied with work and, after a moment of hesitation, doesn't pick up the phone. Her focus is on a new case: after interviewing a woman who was cheated by a dating website, Tang Xin decides to investigate the fraudulent site herself by signing up for one of its matchmaking events. Her father is furious when he learns of her risky plan.
To make up for the canceled honeymoon, Zong Qing takes Lan Yangyang on a trip to the wilderness. Her lack of stamina leads to some playful complaints, which the ever-patient Zong Qing handles with affection. Their sweet time together is cut short, however, when Zong Qing receives a text informing him that he must report for a new training camp and will be away for some time. Though let down again, Lan Yangyang is understanding. To soften the blow, he promises to take her camping before he has to leave.
At the military base, Wu Si notices that a soldier named Yi Nan Wang's shooting accuracy has worsened. He initially scolds him for the decline but soon learns the true cause is severe muscle fatigue from a previous flood rescue mission. Wu Si immediately arranges for Yi Nan Wang to receive medical attention.
Hearing that Tang Xin is at the matchmaking event, Wu Si goes to find her. His handsome looks make him an instant hit with the other women. He is soon cornered by a wealthy, overbearing woman who clashes with his values, insisting that money can solve anything and even making insulting remarks about soldiers. Seeing that Wu Si is uncomfortable, Tang Xin steps in to defend him and sends the woman away.
Afterward, Tang Xin's jealous teasing prompts Wu Si to confess that he came to the event just for her. Their attention then turns back to the investigation. Tang Xin confronts the man behind the scam, who tries to escape but is swiftly stopped by Wu Si. It's then that Wu Si realizes her presence at the event was purely for journalistic purposes.
That night, Tang Xin is restless, replaying Wu Si's confession in her mind. Zong Qing returns to the base, bringing face masks from Lan Yangyang to share with his fellow soldiers. He even coaxes a reluctant Wu Si to use one by telling him Tang Xin would like it.
The next morning, the training camp begins without warning as Wu Si calls an emergency assembly. Unaware of this, Tang Xin waits by her phone, growing more and more disappointed that Wu Si hasn't called. Too proud to reach out first, she begins to scheme for a work-related excuse to contact him.
