Rose and Gun: Episode 3 Spoilers - An Unlikely Date Leads to Danger

The tangled relationship between the steadfast soldier Wu Si and the intrepid journalist Tang Xin takes a sharp turn in the third episode, moving from a reluctant blind date to a dangerous undercover operation.

Forced into a blind date by their respective families, Wu Si and Tang Xin are shocked to discover they are each other's match-up.Before the official meeting, Wu Si arranges to see Tang Xin to return her camera, but she has another motive. She presses him for details about the military exercise where she was rescued, explaining that the viral video of the event doesn't tell the whole story. Bound by military regulations, Wu Si firmly refuses to disclose any classified information, despite her pleas. Later, during the actual date, Tang Xin flips the script and takes an assertive, flirty approach, leaving the usually composed Wu Si completely flustered.

To appease their meddling families, the two strike a deal: they will pretend the blind date was a success. This arrangement gives them a reprieve from further matchmaking attempts. While Wu Si finds himself intrigued by the persistent and bold journalist, Tang Xin's focus quickly shifts. She receives a tip about criminals illegally salvaging underwater cultural relics in the Dayanjiao Reef area and decides to investigate. She enlists the help of Han Yuhang, who, still smitten after she previously saved him, readily agrees to assist, ignoring his friend's warnings.

As fate would have it, Wu Si is also deployed to the same reef with his special forces team to search for illegal activities. While Tang Xin is conducting her undercover investigation, she is framed when contraband is discovered in her bag. As the police move to take her into custody, she spots Wu Si on patrol. In a desperate move to avoid arrest and protect her investigation, she claims that Wu Si is her boyfriend. The police are momentarily surprised by his military status but cannot ignore the evidence. In a surprising twist, Wu Si does not use his position to save her; instead, he steps aside and allows the police to take her away.

Though he let the arrest happen, Wu Si's sense of duty compels him to find the truth, and he begins his own investigation into who framed her. Tang Xin is eventually released from the police station after her identity as a journalist helps to convince the authorities she wouldn't knowingly carry contraband. Wu Si is waiting for her outside, but even in her anger, her attempts to leverage the situation to learn about her rescuer are met with his steadfast silence. The episode concludes on a tense note: Tang Xin returns home to face her father's anger over the arrest, all while remaining completely unaware that her computer has been secretly compromised and her files copied.
