Double Fugue: Episode 5 Spoilers

The episode kicks off with Qin Yuebai in a bind over a fake contract. Still wary of Lu Li's true identity as a great artist, she decides her only way out of the current crisis is to take a chance on him. She gives him a full makeover, presenting him as a master painter.

Lu Li flatly denies he can paint, but Qin Yuebai astutely points out a thick callus on his little finger—a clear sign of someone who frequently handles a brush. With no way to argue, Lu Li takes up a paintbrush. While his technique appears surprisingly skillful, his face contorts in agony, and he suddenly faints while painting.

He is rushed to the hospital, where doctors suggest he may have a phobia related to the act of painting.Though confused by this bizarre condition, Qin Yuebai decides to put her faith in him, now seeing him as the company's new "money tree."

Meanwhile, Su Baoyan's boyfriend, eager to see her triumph over Qin Yuebai, hatches a plot to swap a high-profile painting in the gallery with a forgery.

The next day, a crowd gathers outside the gallery, anxious to view the famous artwork. Just as Qin Yuebai is about to open the doors, Lu Li urgently stops her, revealing that the painting has been switched. He warns that displaying a fake would destroy the gallery's reputation and promises to find the real one, asking only for a brief delay.

Qin Yuebai checks the security cameras but finds no leads. Thinking fast, she sends a bold text message to Su Baoyan, asking where she hid the painting. The direct accusation sends the guilty Su Baoyan into a panic, and she immediately blocks Qin Yuebai on WeChat, which is all the confirmation Qin Yuebai needs.

Impressively, Lu Li manages to "find" the authentic painting and rehang it in no time, leaving Qin Yuebai amazed by his swift efficiency. However, the truth is that Lu Li had overheard Su Baoyan and her assistant planning the heist. In anticipation, he had hung a fake on the wall himself, meaning Su Baoyan had only managed to steal a copy.

Later, as Su Baoyan eagerly awaits news of Qin Yuebai's public humiliation, her boyfriend rushes in with baffling news: the gallery's visitors are praising the painting as genuine. Su Baoyan is left completely floored, unable to comprehend how the real painting is on display when she was certain she had stolen it.

Refusing to admit defeat, Su Baoyan launches her next attack: she publicly exposes Qin Yuebai's red-green color blindness, even providing her medical report as proof. The news causes an immediate uproar. Reporters surround Qin Yuebai, questioning how someone with color blindness could possibly manage an art gallery. Qin Yuebai instantly suspects Lu Li, the only one who knew her secret, must have leaked it.

Forced into the spotlight, Qin Yuebai courageously admits her condition. However, she delivers a passionate speech, arguing that as a businesswoman, her ability to appraise art goes far beyond simply distinguishing colors. Her sincerity and conviction silence the press.

Just as the situation seems to be under control, Lu Li adds fuel to the fire. He drops another bombshell, revealing to the reporters that Qin Yuebai is the illegitimate daughter of Su Shilun. As the press once again descends on Qin Yuebai, Su Shilun himself makes a dramatic entrance. He pushes past the reporters and their microphones, curtly declaring the issue a "family matter" that he will not discuss publicly.
