Double Fugue: Episode 6 Spoilers
The secret is out, and the fallout is immediate. With Qin Yuebai's identity as an illegitimate daughter now public knowledge, the first person to confront her is her half-sister, Su Baoyan. Storming in, Su Baoyan accuses Yuebai's mother of being a homewrecker. While Yuebai usually tolerates her spoiled sister's antics out of respect for their shared father, insulting her mother is a line that cannot be crossed. Yuebai looks her sister dead in the eye and suggests she go ask their father who the real homewrecker was. The argument escalates, and Su Baoyan slaps Yuebai across the face. Before it can get any worse, their father, Su Shilun, appears and puts a stop to it, reminding Su Baoyan that reporters are still lurking, eager for more drama.
Later, Su Shilun calls Yuebai into his office for a private word. He reminds her that her position as the gallery manager came with one condition: no family secrets were to be exposed. He accuses her of leaking the information herself. Yuebai gives a bitter laugh, pointing out that revealing her own painful secret brings her no advantage whatsoever.
Unbeknownst to them, Lu Li overhears their entire conversation. He feels a pang of guilt, as he was the one who spread the news. After Su Shilun leaves, Lu Li approaches Yuebai. He's puzzled when he sees that she hasn't made any move to investigate who leaked the story. Meanwhile, Yuebai notices Lu Li's strange demeanor and begins to grow suspicious of his true motives.
After work, Yuebai has a chance encounter that brings her past rushing back. She runs into Ai Rui, a senior classmate from her university days whom she affectionately calls "Shige" (senior). The two were deeply in love, and Yuebai was even willing to wait five years for him when he decided to study abroad. However, he broke up with her, claiming he didn't want to hold her back, and their relationship ended. Now, seeing the ambiguous look in his eyes, Yuebai realizes how long it's been and instinctively keeps a polite, social distance.
From afar, Lu Li watches Yuebai's hesitant but familiar interaction with this strange man, and a wave of jealousy hits him. He walks right up to them, interrupts by announcing that a meeting is about to start, and promptly leads Yuebai away.
Professionally, Yuebai is focused on finding new art to keep the gallery's exhibitions fresh and attract visitors. She sets her sights on a new painting titled "Daisy" by a mysterious artist named Andrew, which has been receiving rave reviews. After discussing a potential exhibition with Lu Li, she decides to visit the artist directly.
To her surprise, Andrew is a sharp and decisive young woman. Despite Yuebai's best sales pitch about her gallery's advantages, Andrew simply hands her a business card for her agent, telling her to direct all inquiries to them. When Yuebai dials the number on the card, she's stunned to hear a familiar voice on the other end—it's her ex, Ai Rui.
The revelation of Qin Yuebai's parentage leads to a physical altercation with her sister and a warning from her father. Lu Li, who secretly leaked the information, feels guilty, which in turn makes Yuebai suspicious of him. A chance encounter with her college ex-boyfriend, Ai Rui, stirs up old feelings and sparks jealousy in Lu Li. In a professional pursuit, Yuebai tries to recruit a hot new artist, only to discover that the artist's agent is none other than Ai Rui.
