Plot Synopsis

Set against the tumultuous backdropof the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression,Our Homelandchronicles apivotal chapter in Chinese history, from the fall of Shandong in 1937 to the final victory in 1945. The series follows the journey of Zhuang Qifeng, a gentle scholar who is thrust from his quiet life into the heart of a nation in turmoil. Compelled by the devastation of his country, he commits himself to the revolutionary cause. Under the guidance of the CommunistParty of China, he ventures deepinto the rugged Yimeng Mountains to build a resistance from the ground up.

Life in the Yimeng region is fraught withperil. The Japanese Imperial Army enforces its brutal "Three AllsPolicy," leaving a trail of destruction, while the Kuomintang forces and local government officials flee in the face of the invasion, abandoning thepopulace. To compound the chaos, local banditsprey on the commonpeople, often in collusion with the KMT. Undaunted by these immense challenges, Zhuang Qifeng embeds himself within the community,patiently working to convince thepeople that their only hope for survival lies in unified resistance. He spearheads critical reforms, such as reducing rent and interest rates to ease the burden on local farmers, and establishes Farmers' and Women's Salvation Associations and Self-Defense Forces to empower every individual to contribute. As he navigates the treacherous landscape of both open warfare and clandestine intelligence operations, Zhuang Qifeng transforms from a naive young idealist into a hardened and capable leader of the grassroots armed resistance.
