A Forbidden Marriage: Episode 4 Recap

Episode 4 of A Forbidden Marriage begins with Wang Yue determinedly catching up to Yang Qing and the Cloud Sect disciples just as they are about to leave the city. Though Yang Qing is reluctant, knowing the danger, he can't convince her to leave, and with a little insight from Yao Fu, he finally gives in and lets Wang Yue tag along.

The drama between Wang Yue and Yao Fu kicks off almost immediately. At an inn, Wang Yue "accidentally" throws a dart at Yao Fu, who catches it with ease. Wang Yue plays innocent, claiming a hand cramp, which only infuriates Yao Fu. Later, Wang Yue gets her revenge by secretly having the waiter spike Yao Fu's food with a laxative. Yao Fu, initially thinking her own dark powers are acting up, is furious when she learns from her junior, Xiao Bai, that she was pranked. She confronts Wang Yue, but after losing a quick fight, she decides to use a more devious method: mind control.

Using a special bracelet, Yao Fu manipulates Wang Yue's mind, causing her to become bizarrely and overwhelmingly friendly and affectionate towards Yao Fu. This sudden change in personality doesn't just confuse the other disciples; it completely creeps out Yao Fu herself. The spell is briefly broken when a conversation with Fan Hao brings Wang Yue back to her senses, leaving her confused about her own recent behavior.

Confused and angry, Wang Yue confronts Yao Fu again, only to fall under her control once more. The constant mental battle leaves Wang Yue with a splitting headache. Yang Qing finds her in this state and immediately suspects Yao Fu is behind it. He confronts Yao Fu, and after she denies it, he spots the bracelet on her wrist and takes it from her, confirming his suspicions.

Yang Qing tends to the fainted Wang Yue, who wakes up but pretends to still be unconscious until he calls her out on it. He explains how Yao Fu was controlling her, and though Wang Yue wants immediate revenge, Yang Qing manages to calm her down. The peace is short-lived, however, as a disciple rushes in to report suspicious individuals bearing the mark of the Sheng Yue Cult (Holy Moon Cult). Wang Yue, overhearing this, impulsively bursts into the room where the strangers are staying, only to find it empty. Realizing it's a trap, Yang Qing grabs her and leaps into a nearby river just as the room explodes.

After drifting down the river, Wang Yue helps the injured Yang Qing to shore. She later discovers that several other Cloud Sect disciples have been poisoned with something called Wu Xiang Du (Scentless Poison), and she realizes Yang Qing is suffering from the same affliction as he collapses again. Meanwhile, we learn that a woman named Lu Xuanxuan is furious with her subordinates for trying to kill Yang Qing.

As they travel, Wang Yue and a weakened Yang Qing take shelter with an old man, who tells them that the Sheng Yue Cult used to be protectors of the local people. Later that night, while playfully applying medicine to Yang Qing's wounds, Wang Yue teases him and lands a kiss, which causes the poisoned Yang Qing to faint once more. While out getting more medicine, Wang Yue is shocked when she thinks she sees Yuan Yingxing in the street.
