"A Forbidden Marriage" Episode 5: Curses, Cures, and Close Calls
Episode 5 of A Forbidden Marriage begins with Yao Fu getting ambushed while instructing her Cloud Sect disciples. Just as things look bad for Wang Yue, Yuan Yingxing swoops in and saves Yao Fu. She's a bit flustered but thanks him. But let's be real, he didn't save her out of kindness; he wants to be the one to get revenge on her. When his disciples see Yuan Yingxing's hostility, they're ready to fight, but Yao Fu stops them, insisting he isn't a bad guy. To get back at Yao Fu, Yuan Yingxing plans to kill her disciples to make her suffer. Pushed into a corner, Yao Fu uses the "Floating Life Curse" on him again. Just like that, he's smitten with her once more. She keeps him by her side, conveniently hiding the fact that he's a cult leader.
Meanwhile, Wang Yue returns with medicine to find Yang Qing's condition has gotten much worse. He's trapped in a nightmare about his childhood. Seeing him in so much pain, Wang Yue starts reciting the Sheng Yue Cult's core "Heart Method," the only thing that can help him. It works, and he slowly wakes up. Though Wang Yue tries to play it off, Yang Qing has already figured out she was reciting the cult's secret text and is touched. In a sudden rush of emotion, he pins her to the bed. Just as he's about to kiss her, they're interrupted by an old man.
Later, Yang Qing uses the opportunity to ask about the Sheng Yue Cult. He learns that the cult leader calls all the shots. His hope of reforming the cult through Wang Yue is crushed when he realizes that even as the Saintess, she has no power to change things.
The arrival of Yuan Yingxing has the Cloud Sect disciples on edge; they're all scared of him. The only person he's nice to is Yao Fu. That night, Wang Yue sneaks over to Yang Qing's side while he's asleep, wanting to gently touch his face. But he's not asleep and grabs her hand, leaving them in another awkward moment.
Elsewhere, Fan Hao finds Ling Yin, who is being held captive by Ming Yang. She's been offering a high price for someone to help her escape and tries to convince Fan Hao to break her shackles. When Ming Yang hears about her escape plan, he's furious. He blames Ling Yin for harming the Sheng Yue Cult instead of helping it. Fan Hao tries to mediate but ends up getting caught in the crossfire and has to make a quick exit.
Back with Yao Fu, she's discussing how to find Ling Yin with her senior, Xiao Bai, when she realizes someone is eavesdropping. She hides Xiao Bai just before opening the door to find Yuan Yingxing. He heard another man's voice and wants to see who is in her room. At that exact moment, the Floating Life Curse on him suddenly fails. His memories come flooding back, and he remembers that Yao Fu is responsible for what happened to the Sheng Yue Cult. Terrified, Yao Fu runs, but he catches her. Believing she killed Wang Yue, he's ready to kill her for revenge. To save her own life, Yao Fu blurts out that Wang Yue is still alive. This stops him in his tracks. Yao Fu then strikes a deal: if he helps protect the Cloud Sect disciples, she'll tell him where to find Wang Yue.
Finally, Wang Yue brings Yang Qing to Qinglai City, telling him her cousin there can cure his poison. Yang Qing is suspicious, as he knows the only person who can cure him is Ling Yin from the Sheng Yue Cult, but Wang Yue manages to come up with an excuse. After getting Ling Yin's location from Fan Hao, she takes Yang Qing to meet her. Wang Yue didn't expect that Yang Qing and Ling Yin already know each other. She quickly asks Ling Yin to play along with her story to deceive Yang Qing, who then helps break the shackles on Ling Yin's feet.
