Episode 3 of Hide Games begins right in the middle of the action. The police tech department just cracked the surveillance footage from the crime scene, and they got a crystal-clear image of Han Xu's face. With this, the task force is convinced he's the one who killed both Xiao Ran and An Shaocong. Captain Ma is adamant, pushing Wang Jian to sign the arrest warrant. The police mobilize immediately to surround and capture Han Xu.
As Han Xu dashes out of a psychology clinic, he can already hear the heavy footsteps of cops echoing down the hallway. He runs right into an officer around a corner but makes a split-second decision. He dives into a janitor's cart and uses it as cover to blend in and slip out of the building. Down in the dimly lit underground garage, just as he steps out, he feels the cold barrel of a gun pressed against the back of his head. Thanks to years of training, his instincts take over. He throws an elbow back, disarms the officer, and knocks him out with a quick chop to the neck, telling him to keep quiet.
Just then, Xiao Wu shows up in a car and whisks Han Xu away. He explains what was happening right before the arrest attempt, telling Han Xu that he trusts him completely. Xiao Wu takes his mentor to his apartment and pulls out the original autopsy report. It shows something shocking: there was absolutely no trace of An Shaocong's DNA in Xiao Ran's body. It turns out, Xiao Wu had doubts about the medical examiner's story from the start. After doing some digging, he discovered that the examiner had been paid to create a fake report specifically to deceive Han Xu.
Xiao Wu is certain this is all a carefully planned conspiracy to take Han Xu down. He believes that during an operation two months ago, Han Xu must have stumbled upon one of Wang Jian's dark secrets. Now, Wang Jian not only wants to silence him but also ruin his reputation by framing him for murder. The setup is flawless. Han Xu listens with a heavy heart, finding it hard to believe that Wang Jian, a man he's worked with for over ten years, would set him up. But as Xiao Wu points out, sometimes the person who knows you best is the one who has the most reason to want you to shut up for good.
