Hide Games: A Father's Warning
Episode 7 of Hide Games begins with Xiao Ran leading Han Xu by the hand through a sea of flowers into a hidden village. It's a strange scene; the villagers all seem to know Xiao Ran and greet her respectfully, yet the place is patrolled by armed guards. Inside a room, Xiao Ran pulls out a box filled with her savings, telling Han Xu it's enough for them to run away and start a new life. Han Xu doesn't understand what's going on, but his gut tells him they need to leave immediately. They don't make it out of the village before they're both knocked unconscious from behind.
When Han Xu wakes up, he's chained to a wooden post. Wang Chengming is standing in front of him, calling himself Han Xu's father in a tone that's so friendly it's terrifying. Wang Chengming complains that Xiao Ran isn't good enough for Han Xu and says he'll find him a better woman. Han Xu quickly begs him to leave Xiao Ran alone, trying his best to de-escalate the situation. For the moment, Wang Chengming agrees to spare her, but as a "warning," he pulls out a dagger and stabs Han Xu deep in the thigh.
The last thing Han Xu sees before passing out is a Rakshasa statue behind Wang Chengming, though he decides not to mention this detail to Xiao Wu later. In an effort to buy Han Xu more time to investigate, Chen Yaxin calls the police and falsely reports that Han Xu has kidnapped her. After she leaves, Xiao Wu tells Han Xu to lay low in a safe house, leaving him the car keys and promising to report in once a day.
The next morning, the sound of distant bells leads Han Xu to an old temple with a plaque that reads, "Hell is not empty." Inside, monks are burning incense and praying to another Rakshasa statue. When Han Xu asks a monk whether the figure is a demon or a god, the monk simply replies, "He is both Rakshasa and Buddha." Han Xu stays at the temple until nightfall. Growing anxious after being unable to reach Xiao Wu, he heads back to his safe house, only to be ambushed and knocked out by Team Leader Ma. Just as Han Xu tries to get in his car to escape, a gun is pressed to his head.
