Spoiler Alert
The Cops' Big Gamble
Faking an Explosion
So, it turns out Zhan Peng and the other cops are completely fine. I was wondering about that. We learn the whole warehouse explosion was a setup. They found the bomb and decided to play along, detonating a flour mill instead. It was a bold move. Zhan Peng explains to Xiong Guoliang that they needed to do something big. He thinks the criminals are under a lot of pressure, and a huge explosion would make them feel safe enough to get sloppy. Xiong Guoliang isn't sold on this risky idea. But Tu Hongjiang, surprisingly, gives it the green light.
Setting the Trap
The best part is the bad guys have no idea the cops already nabbed Da Gou. The police are using him to fish for the bigger boss. This is where things get interesting. Da Gou's phone gets a message full of garbled code. Zhan Peng sees his chance. He storms into the interrogation room, pretending to be furious. He throws some debris from the fake explosion on the table. He tells Da Gou that he trusted him, and now a bunch of his officers are dead.
Da Gou completely panics. He swears he didn't know anything about a bomb. To really sell it, Zhan Peng shows him a fake text he sent to Da Gou's own phone. It says something like "warehouse is done, wait for news." Da Gou has no way to explain it. To prove he's being honest, he translates the real coded message. It says to pick up a shipment at the T468 train station the next morning. Zhan Peng tells him that if he wants his brother, Er Gou, to stay alive, he has to cooperate.
The Criminals' Mess
Damage Control
On the other side, Hua Long is doing some serious damage control. He puts on a big show for Sun Ge, apologizing for losing the last shipment. He claims he had no idea the cops were onto them. He also mentions he has a backup plan with online groups to move product quickly. Sun Ge is annoyed but agrees to split the loss. He warns Hua Long not to screw up again. Hua Long then tells his guy, Mao Zi, to get ready to pick up the new shipment. He also sends people to watch Bing A Dou, planning to steal the old merchandise back.
An Unlikely Messenger
San Ma Hu orders the Old Chinese Doctor and Bing A Dou to handle the new pickup. The doctor sees an opening. He tries to pass a message while pretending to go out for medicine. Ping Tou Ge stops him, though, and has one of his guys take the prescription to the pharmacy instead. But the doctor's apprentice is clever. He uses the prescription itself as a word puzzle. He figures out the location of the deal and gets the information to Tu Hongjiang.
The Train Heist
This whole sequence was great. Everyone is on the T468 train, and they're all in disguise. The cops are there. Bing A Dou is there. The Old Chinese Doctor is there.
Da Gou picks up the package as planned. But then, in a slick move, Bing A Dou (disguised as a woman) and the Old Doctor (as a random passenger) manage to swap the package right under everyone's noses. The cops tailing them lose their trail for a minute.
Bing A Dou then changes his disguise, this time to an old man. He tries to get off the train by starting a fire with some luggage to create chaos. The cops are still right on him. An officer named Lao Wu tries to grab him but gets injured in the process. Just as Bing A Dou jumps from the moving train, Tu Hongjiang lunges and snatches the package back. It was a close call. The cops search the cargo area, but it's too late. Bai Tao Hua pulls up in a car and speeds away with Bing A Dou.
The whole thing ends badly for Hua Long. His man, Mao Zi, failed to get the goods and Da Gou was caught. Hua Long finds Mao Zi hiding at home and realizes they are completely finished. He tells Mao Zi to grab his mother and run. Just then, Sun Ge calls. Hua Long lies, saying he can't find Mao Zi but will give him a satisfactory explanation. As Hua Long and his crew are packing to flee, Sun Ge kicks their door in. He's not getting away.
