A Father's Blessing
Lao Yang finally comes around. After a chat with Tingting, he agrees to let Shiwu study abroad and signs the papers. But it’s not just a simple signature. He sits Shiwu down for a real heart-to-heart.
Lao Yang admits he feels guilty. He says he fought for custody after the divorce because he couldn't bear to be without his son. He remembers their early days together clearly. But after he remarried and started a new family, he felt them drifting apart. He knows Shiwu is grown up now and deserves respect. He just wants his son to remember that this is always his home. He also tells him that no matter what, a father's love is absolute.
Shiwu is genuinely moved by this. He finally gets what Mary was saying. A little communication can solve a lot of problems.
A New Business Venture
Ma Yingjie Goes Viral
It turns out Ma Yingjie's weird hobby is actually a valuable skill. Parents from the school group are suddenly blowing up his phone. They all want to know his prices for fixing their kids' toys.
His son, Ma Zihang, posted a video of him working on a figurine. The video now has over 200,000 fans. When Tang Xiaowei finds out, she has to eat her words. She thought he was just wasting time and money. She never imagined he could actually make a living from it.
A Cautious Reconciliation
Tang Xiaowei tries to call Ma Yingjie, but he hangs up on her. That's a first, and it makes her furious. Later, she’s cleaning at home when she slips and hurts her hand. Ma Zihang calls his dad, who shows up almost immediately.
This is how she learns he's been living in a cheap hotel nearby. He wanted to be close in case of an emergency. Tang Xiaowei apologizes for her earlier attitude. She asks about his plans now that his skill is in demand. She even offers to use her experience to help him plan for live streaming. Ma Yingjie is thrilled.
He decides to open an online shop, and Huo Tongtong offers to invest. Their relationship is just friendly, but Ma Yingjie is still paranoid about Tang Xiaowei getting the wrong idea. He’s so careful that he leaves the car door open when they meet, even though it's winter. Ma Yingjie agrees to the investment. This way, he isn't just burning through savings, which he hopes will keep Tang Xiaowei happy.
Family Lessons
The Skating Ruse
Liu Xiangshang finds some medicated wipes for bruises in the trash can. He immediately suspects Liu Guoning is hiding an injury. He and Dai Jing decide to trick their son into confessing.
Liu Xiangshang used to be a "roller skating prince" back in the day. He decides to give the kids a skating lesson at home. He starts with Liu Guobao and invites Guoning to join. Guoning keeps making excuses. He eventually figures out his parents are onto him and comes clean.
His parents give him a lecture, but it's clear they were just worried. Liu Xiangshang had already checked with a community doctor, so he knew the injury wasn't serious.
The No-Leftovers Rule
It's the New Year, and the house is full of festive spirit. Shiwu even invites Mary over for the holiday after seeing she was still at school during a video call.
At Liu Xiangshang's house, he's fed up with how wasteful his kids are. Liu Guoning and Liu Guobao never finish their food. Talking to them doesn't work. They just don't see the point in forcing themselves to eat when they don't have to.
So, he introduces a new rule. Anyone who leaves food on their plate has to eat it for their next meal. He also cancels afternoon snacks. The plan works perfectly. The kids immediately start cleaning their plates.
