Spoiler Alert

Takeda's Grand Plan Implodes

This whole thing started a few hours before the chaos. Ye Yin got her hands on a Japanese Navy telegram. It mentioned the Plum Blossom Agency's code, "K." The original plan was to give this to Takeda. But Ye Yin made a different call. She took it straight to Colonel Sasaki instead. After dropping off the intel, she hopped in a car with Xian Biyun. The trap was officially set.

The Fake Death of Joseph Needham

A fire breaks out at the Japanese hospital. This gives Ding Yi the perfect cover. He's still playing the part of Joseph Needham. He acts panicked and uses the confusion to slip away to the morgue. From there, he and Gu Yangshan make it to a British merchant ship.

Takeda was watching the whole time. He thought he had them cornered. He ordered his men to stop the ship for an inspection. The British crew was not having it. A conflict breaks out. Then, gunshots ring out. From Takeda's point of view, Needham was shot and fell into the sea. He thought his target was dead.

The Confrontation

Takeda walks into Sasaki's office feeling pretty good about himself. He presents his evidence. He declares that Needham tried to escape and was killed. Then the door opens. In walks Needham, very much alive. Takeda’s jaw just about hits the floor. Ding Yi calmly explains he came directly to Sasaki because of the hospital fire. Takeda starts scrambling. He insists his photo evidence is real. So, Sasaki decides to bring in Xian Biyun to clear things up.

Dismantling the Accusations

Xian Biyun arrives at the Plum Blossom Agency. She immediately rushes to Ding Yi's side, acting all concerned. Takeda shows her the photo of her meeting with Frank. She doesn't even blink. She says Frank is just an old friend. They were meeting to discuss movie profits. She claims it was all for the benefit of the Japanese Empire.

The Map and the Wine

Takeda isn't done. He accuses her of passing Needham a secret map. He says it was hidden inside a good luck charm. Xian Biyun plays dumb. She says she was just helping Frank and had no idea what was inside.

Right on cue, Gu Yangshan stumbles in. He's acting drunk and holding a bottle of wine. Ding Yi explains everything. The map wasn't for espionage. It was just to help Gu Yangshan find a specific bottle of wine. He points out the map has Braille on it. The Braille message says, "Inspect the wine tonight." He had to do all this because Captain Kobayashi wouldn't let him leave the hospital. A translator confirms the Braille message is exactly what Ding Yi said it was. Takeda is fuming.

Turning the Tables on Takeda

Ding Yi goes on the offensive. He gets angry and accuses Takeda of being the real traitor. He points out Takeda's close relationship with the Navy. He suggests Takeda is the one who leaked secrets to them. Sasaki is finally convinced. We learn Takeda is the illegitimate son of the Kumamoto family. He was just trying to score points to get back into the family's good graces. Sasaki has Takeda dragged away. The plan worked. Ding Yi can finally breathe again.

A New, Dangerous Problem

The show then flashes back a few days. We see Gu Yangshan explaining the whole scheme to Ding Yi. They knew Sasaki was aware of Takeda's family issues. They also knew the Japanese Army and Navy hate each other. Sasaki would never check with the Navy to confirm Ye Yin's intel. This is what made the whole fake-out at the docks possible.

But taking down Takeda created a new issue. The expert eye doctor, Miyamoto, is still coming. His examination will definitely expose Ding Yi's fake blindness. Gu Yangshan wants to use a risky plan from Meng Jie. Xian Biyun is against it. She's worried about Ding Yi's safety.

The Pill Plan

The Japanese want Dr. Miyamoto to consult with Dr. Schwartz. Luckily, Schwartz isn't available in the morning. Meng Jie offers to cover for him. This gives them an opening. Meng Jie says they can use chlorpheniramine pills. The drug will cause temporary symptoms that might fool Miyamoto. But there's a huge catch. She has to get back within two hours to pump Ding Yi's stomach. If she doesn't, he could suffer permanent damage. They also have to make sure the Japanese don't notice the drug's side effects.

While they debate, Ding Yi overhears them. He just grabs the pills and swallows them all. He starts feeling dizzy almost immediately.

He's brought before Dr. Miyamoto. The room is spinning for him. Miyamoto just sits there, slowly drinking a cup of coffee. Ding Yi feels so awful he asks for a cup of coffee too. Miyamoto starts rambling about his past. Meng Jie gets nervous. She tries to get him to start the examination.
