The Warning from the Coma
So, Fang Yangtian is in bad shape. He’s in a deep coma after a major health scare. The doctors managed to stabilize him, but he’s completely unresponsive. While this is happening, Mr. Dong heads to Hong Kong. He’s determined to put Fang Xueli in the chairman's seat.
This is where it gets interesting. Lin Cheng pulls a classic spy move. She dresses up as a nurse and slips right past security into Fang Yangtian’s hospital room. She’s just looking around when the impossible happens. Fang Yangtian opens his eyes. He can't talk or really move. But he looks right at her. He then uses his finger to trace a message on the bedsheet. He tells her someone is secretly buying up the family's company shares.
A Family in Disbelief
Lin Cheng doesn't waste a second. She bolts to the Fang house to deliver this critical news to Fang Xueli. His reaction? He thinks she's lying. He doesn't believe for a second that his father woke up. He actually tries to throw her out of the house.
Their argument gets loud enough to attract Jiang Huanqiu. She’s a bit more level-headed and invites Lin Cheng to stay and explain. Lin Cheng tells everyone exactly what Fang Yangtian communicated. She stresses that he wants them to sell their personal assets. They need that money to buy back controlling interest in the company. The family just stares at her. Just as the argument hits a stalemate, the hospital calls. They set up a video feed from Fang Yangtian's room. He sees his family in chaos on the screen. He looks frustrated. He then starts communicating with Lin Cheng through Morse code. This is his way of proving she’s telling the truth.
He brings up old memories. He recalls a trip to an amusement park with his mother when he was ten. The old matriarch hears this and starts crying, nodding that it’s true. He then brings up slapping Fang Xueli at age thirteen. He also mentions a toy car he gave to Fang Xueqin for his tenth birthday. These old, private stories are the proof they need. The family finally believes Lin Cheng.
Shifting Alliances and Power Plays
The three Fang sons are all thinking about themselves. They worry that this crisis could be the end of the family's power for good. Fang Yangtian knows things are urgent. He manages to give them the password to the safe in his study. The grandmother puts her foot down. She decides they will all follow her son's plan.
Later, Huanqiu pulls Lin Cheng aside. She senses that Lin Cheng means something special to Fang Yangtian. She asks what their relationship is. Lin Cheng gets evasive and won't give a straight answer.
The sons agree to sell their personal property to raise cash. But they hit a wall. The company's board members suddenly have excuses and refuse to meet with them. Then Gao Shen makes a shocking move. He sells his shares in the Fang company directly to Fang Xueli for a high price. Mr. Kuang is furious when he finds out and confronts him. Gao Shen calmly explains his logic. He sensed Fang Yangtian was about to wake up. He didn't want Mr. Kuang’s scheme to get exposed.
The Past Comes Knocking
Fang Yangtian finally wakes up for real. The whole family rushes to his side. His sons put on a big show of being worried and caring. Fang Xuexian just stands back, clearly disgusted by his brothers' fake act.
Lin Cheng checks in with the police. The man who hit them is named Guan Dayou. The police admit it's possible someone stole his car for the hit-and-run. She also goes back to the Jin Liu Ji Xiang jewelry store to look into the counterfeit jewels she found. The shop is closed down and for sale. The driver is still missing. She becomes more convinced the car crash was no accident.
We also learn some crucial backstory. A private investigator hired by Jiaxin catches Lin Cheng meeting with Gao Shen. The investigator also found out Lin Cheng is Lin Quan’s sister. Her father, Lin Daquan, used to be a goldsmith for the family's company. He holds an old grudge. Jiaxin immediately suspects Lin Cheng is only close to Fang Yangtian to get revenge.
A flashback to five years ago confirms it. We see Lin Cheng remembering her father's accident. He was working for the Fangs when it happened. The injury ruined his hand, and he could no longer work. Back then, she swore she would make the Fang family pay.
