Episode Summary
In this episode, Mu Qibai escapes prison thanks to a loyal follower's sacrifice and gains control of a demon army. Ming Yi decides to reforge a powerful weapon, bringing her closer to Ji Bozai. We learn that a major fight between Tianji and Yan Xiao was faked as part of a secret alliance with Ji Bozai. The episode ends with Mu Qibai launching a full-scale attack during a festival, forcing the heroes into a desperate battle.

The "Escape" That Wasn't a Surprise
A Follower's Ultimate Sacrifice
So, Mu Qibai is technically in jail. But nobody is relaxing. Ming Yi has a bad feeling. She thinks something big is about to happen. Ji Bozai feels it too. He suspects Mu Qibai has another card to play.
They were right. Mu Qibai's follower, Shao Qun, is completely loyal. He previously took the fall for Mu Qibai. But that was just part of the plan. Shao Qun has been secretly feeding a demon beast with his own blood. He then goes to a place called Chen Yuan. He jumps in and sacrifices himself. This act gives Mu Qibai full control of the demon army.
The New Plan
By the time everyone else figures this out, it's too late. Mu Qibai uses the demons to escape. He's gone into hiding. Ji Bozai guesses what's next. He thinks Mu Qibai will launch a massive attack on Jixing Yuan during the Qiye Festival. The situation is urgent. They have to gather all their forces and prepare for a fight.
Ming Yi wants to protect the realms. She decides to reforge the Demon-Suppressing Umbrella. Her spirit animal, Twenty-Seven, is worried. This could expose her true identity. Ming Yi doesn't care about that right now. She can't let the demons destroy everything.
A Messy Political Romance
Tianji's Bold Move
Tianji goes to find Yan Xiao. She wants information about Mu Qibai's plans. She offers him a huge reward. Yan Xiao just scoffs at her. He says Tianji is ambitious but lacks courage. He tells her she's too hesitant. He even suggests she should just give up and let him take over Jixing Yuan.
This doesn't make Tianji angry. Instead, she moves closer. She puts her hands on his neck and kisses him. She tells him they can get married right away if he wants.
But Yan Xiao doesn't buy it. To him, this is just a political marriage. She's using their relationship as a tool. He believes she would make the same offer to Ji Bozai or anyone else. They end up saying some very hurtful things to each other. Meng Yangqiu shows up and defends Tianji. Tianji then deliberately takes Meng Yangqiu's hand. Yan Xiao sees this and leaves, looking heartbroken.
A Secret Alliance Revealed
Later, we see Yan Xiao alone at Dragon Carp Terrace. He's thinking about the past. Mu Qibai once promised to make him a king if he became the god-king.
But here's the twist. We learn Yan Xiao has secretly been working with Ji Bozai all along. The fight with Tianji was an act. It was all a plan to trick Mu Qibai and lure him out.
Forging Weapons and Feelings
The Concentric Array
For the next few days, Ming Yi focuses completely on reforging the umbrella. Ji Bozai stays by her side the whole time. You can see how much he loves her. Zhang Tai's spiritual power is still unstable. So Ming Yi makes a special, unique umbrella just for him. Ji Bozai is still there, watching over her.
Their spirit animals, Bu Xiu and Twenty-Seven, watch them too. They argue about who is making the first move in this romance. Bu Xiu thinks Ming Yi started it. Twenty-Seven blames Ji Bozai. Only the wise Granny Xun seems to understand what's really going on between them.
During this time, Ming Yi tries to ask Ji Bozai for the artifact "Yujin." He's still a little upset that she brought up Ming Xian before. So he lies. He tells her Yujin was completely destroyed. This makes Ming Yi very sad. Seeing her reaction, Ji Bozai confesses his feelings for her again. Ming Yi is touched.
She remembers something from a hundred years ago. The demons were sealed away using a special formation called the Concentric Array. The array is extremely difficult to use. The two people casting it must be perfectly in sync. Their hearts and minds must be one. If there's any doubt, they will instantly burst into flames and die. Ming Yi thinks they could try using it if things get desperate. Ji Bozai is confident their love is real enough to make it work.
The Festival Attack Begins
We also see Ming Xin making his own moves. He goes to the god-king, Chao Heng. He offers to help destroy Jixing Yuan. In return, he wants Chao Heng's help to become the crown prince. Chao Heng agrees. He gives Ming Xin a Blood Moon Ring.
The Qiye Festival arrives. Mu Yuanfeng is leading a ceremony for the people. Suddenly, Mu Qibai attacks with his entire demon army. He threatens to kill the citizens. He wants to force his brother, Mu Yuanfeng, to sign a document giving up the throne.
Just in time, Ji Bozai rushes in and saves Mu Yuanfeng. The other heroes take an antidote that restores their spiritual power. They all join the fight against Mu Qibai's army.
