Episode Summary
In this episode, Yu Jingxiang fakes being sick to postpone the wedding because she secretly spent the bride price money. This leads to a huge misunderstanding when Cui Bichen, who just found out she's pregnant, thinks the family is rejecting her. After a dramatic breakup and a confrontation at a hotel, Bichen decides to get an abortion. The two families have a showdown at the hospital, where Jingxiang finally confesses the truth about the money, resolving the conflict. The episode ends with a pregnant Shen Mingzhu collapsing in pain.

Jingxiang's Desperate Plan
So, Yu Jingxiang is finally out of the hospital. Her first order of business is not resting. It's damage control. She tries to borrow money from her brother. She needs it to cover the bride price for Cui Bichen. He wants no part of it. He makes a bunch of excuses and practically runs out the door.
Back at home, Xu Dacheng is trying to take care of his wife. The man can't cook to save his life, though. Jingxiang ends up having to make her own food. Later, Bichen stops by to check on her future mother-in-law. This is when Jingxiang puts her real plan into motion. She fakes being in terrible pain. She lies on the sofa, groaning and moaning. Xu Dacheng, bless his heart, plays right along.
Jingxiang tells them she's too sick to go through with a wedding right now. She wants to postpone it. Her son, Xu Zhidong, immediately protests. So, Jingxiang offers a compromise. Zhidong and Bichen can get their marriage license now. They'll just have the big ceremony after she "recovers." Bichen is absolutely furious. She knows something is wrong, but she can't call them out. She just storms out of the house, leaving a very confused Zhidong behind.
A Secret, a Breakup, and a Messy Confrontation
The Truth Comes Out
Bichen gets home and just breaks down crying. Her friend, Feng Meiqi, calls her about trying on wedding dresses. Bichen agrees to go, but she's a wreck. At the bridal shop, she keeps trying to call Zhidong. He won't pick up. She finally confesses everything to Meiqi. She's pregnant.
Meanwhile, we see why Zhidong is ignoring her calls. He's ashamed of his family's behavior. His dad, Xu Dacheng, finally tells him the truth. His mother knows Bichen is pregnant. That's why she's trying to delay the wedding. Everything clicks into place for Zhidong. He finally understands his mom's scheme.
Back at the shop, Meiqi gives Bichen her phone to use. Zhidong sees the different number and answers. Bichen has had enough. She tells him they're done. She breaks up with him right there. Zhidong starts begging her to tell him where she is.
The Hotel Disaster
Zhidong finds out Bichen and Meiqi are at a hotel restaurant. He rushes over to fix things. It does not go well.
Bichen tells him again that the wedding is canceled. Then she drops another bomb. She's going to get an abortion. This makes Zhidong snap. He actually gets angry at her. He blames her for not telling him about the pregnancy. Meiqi immediately jumps in to defend Bichen. Zhidong then starts yelling at Meiqi. Her response is perfect. She throws a glass of wine right in his face.
Just in time, Xu Zhixia arrives. She tears into her brother for his behavior. Then she focuses on comforting Bichen. Meiqi isn't finished, though. She brings up the Xu family's dirtiest laundry. She reminds everyone that Zhidong's parents gave a child away years ago. It’s a low blow, but it lands.
Zhixia eventually gets Bichen to calm down. Meiqi insists on taking Bichen home. As they leave, Zhixia tells Bichen to think very carefully about her next move.
The Hospital Showdown
Bichen’s parents are furious when they hear what happened. They tell her to cancel the marriage for good and get the abortion. The next morning, they push a hesitant Bichen to go to the hospital.
Meiqi had already told Shen Mingzhu about the abortion plan. Mingzhu, in turn, texted Zhixia. So, when Bichen gets to the hospital, Shen Mingzhu is already there. She tries her best to talk Bichen out of it. Bichen's parents are firm. They believe the Xu family is bullying their daughter and changed their minds after learning about the pregnancy.
Then, the entire Xu family shows up in a panic. Zhidong, Zhixia, Dacheng, and Jingxiang all come running in. Zhidong apologizes again and again. Dacheng apologizes to Bichen's parents. Finally, the pressure gets to Jingxiang. She confesses everything. She spent the 100,000 bride price money. The whole sickness and postponement story was a lie to buy herself time.
With the truth finally out, the Xu family apologizes as a group. Bichen’s family accepts their apology, and the wedding is back on.
As Mingzhu watches the two families leave, she suddenly doubles over in pain. Just as she collapses, Li Jingzhe arrives to help her.
