Episode Summary
Shen Mingzhu uncovers her husband's financial trouble and then saves her doctor from an attack using chili oil. Ni Dani introduces her new boyfriend to her bizarrely dysfunctional family. And a power outage at a wedding rehearsal creates a new layer of drama between Feng Meiqi and Hu Gang.

A Mess at the Office
A Favor for a Friend
The episode kicks off with some fallout from the cheating scandal. Shen Minghui got disciplined for stealing exam answers. Hu Gang went to Principal Pan to try and smooth things over. He asked the principal to go easy on Shen Minghui. Principal Pan was not having it. He told Hu Gang to tell Minghui to think about what he did. Shen Minghui saw the whole exchange. He was furious and told Hu Gang to tell the principal to just focus on his own job.
Later, Xu Zhixia shows up looking for Shen Mingzhu. She needs a big favor. She wants Shen Mingzhu’s husband, Feng Zhi, to pull some strings for Zhang Hao's promotion. She even brought two bottles of fancy wine as a gift for Feng Zhi.
Feng Zhi's Big Secret
Shen Mingzhu takes the wine and goes to find Feng Zhi at his office late at night. She walks in at the worst possible moment. She overhears his boss, Mr. Wang, telling Feng Zhi he needs to pay back the public funds he embezzled. Fast. Feng Zhi spots Shen Mingzhu and immediately clams up. Mr. Wang gets the hint and leaves.
Shen Mingzhu explains why she's there. Feng Zhi agrees to help with the promotion. He tells her to take the wine back home for her dad, Shen Shengli. It's pretty clear he has bigger problems than office politics right now.
Wedding Plans and Awkward Dinners
Finding a Wedding Host
Xu Zhidong and Bichen are planning their wedding. They meet with Shen Mingzhu at the Nanxi Hotel to sort out the details. Ni Dani shows up to walk them through the ceremony plans. Xu Zhidong wanted his sister, Xu Zhixia, to host the wedding. But she's pregnant and can't do it. Shen Mingzhu has an idea. She suggests Li Jingzhe for the job.
So, Shen Mingzhu, Bichen, and Xu Zhixia take Li Jingzhe out to dinner to convince him. He's worried he won't do a good job. Xu Zhixia tells him she heard he was a great host back in college. He can't really say no, so he agrees.
A Shrimp and a Scolding
While they're at dinner, Xu Zhixia tries to play matchmaker. She mentions that Li Jingzhe is still single and offers to introduce him to someone. He just says he's too busy with work. Then, Shen Mingzhu peels a shrimp for him. He gets really emotional. He says she's the first person to ever do that for him.
This little dinner causes trouble later. Shen Mingzhu gets home late. Her mom, He Lihua, hears she was out with Li Jingzhe and immediately starts lecturing her. She tells her to have more self-respect. Feng Meiqi tries to defend Shen Mingzhu. This just makes He Lihua turn her anger on Feng Meiqi. Shen Mingzhu tells Feng Meiqi to just drop it, which only makes Feng Meiqi angrier. She feels like she stuck her neck out for nothing. She storms off home, and even Feng Zhi can't seem to calm her down.
Chaos at the Hospital
An Unexpected Attack
Shen Mingzhu goes to the hospital for a prenatal check-up. Yue Xiue arrives to give her some supplements. Just as Shen Mingzhu goes into the exam room, all hell breaks loose. A man and a woman burst in and start screaming at Li Jingzhe. They're shouting that he's going to pay for something.
Li Jingzhe's first instinct is to protect Shen Mingzhu. He shoves her into an adjacent room to keep her out of harm's way. He tries to reason with the couple, but they aren't listening. They just keep yelling and look like they're about to get violent.
Shen Mingzhu Fights Back
Shen Mingzhu is not one to just hide. She holds her phone up to the door and records the entire confrontation. Then she grabs two bottles of chili oil. She sprays it right in the faces of the aggressive couple. Just then, security finally breaks down the door. The couple, now covered in chili oil, panics and runs away.
Yue Xiue rushes in, terrified for Shen Mingzhu. She sees red stuff all over her and thinks it's blood. Shen Mingzhu explains it's just the chili oil. Yue Xiue is so relieved she just hugs her and won't let go. The police show up to investigate. The exam room doesn't have a camera, but it doesn't matter. Shen Mingzhu got it all on her phone.
Ni Dani's Complicated Family Dinner
The Fake Memorial
Ni Dani and Hu Gang are officially dating. She decides to invite him over for dinner to meet her family. She asks her mom to do one thing. She wants her to take down the memorial portrait of her father, Ni Debao. She also wants her actual, living father to be at the dinner.
Hu Gang shows up on time. Ni Debao is there, acting as a co-host. He proceeds to lay it on thick for Hu Gang's benefit. He talks about his own family and then starts gushing about how wonderful Ni Dani's mother is, acting like they're a happy couple.
The Truth Comes Out
After the very strange dinner, Ni Dani takes Hu Gang for a walk by the river. She decides to just tell him the truth. Her parents are divorced. Her dad, Ni Debao, remarried and has another daughter named Ni Xiaoni. They live right across the street. Her mom hung up the fake memorial portrait out of spite. Hu Gang is moved by her honesty. He tells her he doesn't care about the family drama. It just makes him value their relationship more.
Wedding Rehearsal Drama
A Convenient Blackout
It's the day before Xu Zhidong and Bichen's wedding. Shen Mingzhu and Ni Dani are running their rehearsal. Feng Meiqi is there as a bridesmaid. She immediately makes a crack about Ni Dani's heavy makeup.
Suddenly, the lights in the wedding hall go out. Bichen sees an opportunity. She tells Feng Meiqi to call Hu Gang to fix it, hoping it will force them to make up. Feng Meiqi calls, but Hu Gang says he's busy. She sends him an angry text and leaves.
As soon as Feng Meiqi is gone, Ni Dani texts Hu Gang and asks him to come help. He shows up right away on his motorcycle. Feng Meiqi is about to drive off when she sees him arrive. She assumes he came because of her text. Hu Gang fixes the lights easily. Then Feng Meiqi sends him another text, telling him to go fix a computer system.
