Episode Summary
Yu Yu gets roped into taking a new job but quickly falls into old habits by competing against children. After his neighbor Xia Xiaoman has a medical emergency, he reluctantly agrees to watch her dog. The experience forces him to confront his rigid lifestyle, and he slowly goes from a frustrated dogsitter to a genuinely concerned owner, especially after the dog goes missing.

Yu Yu's New Groove (and Old Habits)
The Comeback Kid
So, remember that boring art project Yu Yu didn't want? Well, he's taking it. Gu Yejia apparently said the magic words to get him off the couch. I have to say, I was impressed. Yu Yu actually dives headfirst into the work. He and his team are at the construction site every day. They are designing, planning, and taking it seriously.
Xia Xiaoman and Gu Yejia have a movie night. Yu Yu, meanwhile, runs into an old friend while trying to buy a film. The friend immediately makes fun of him for some stuff he said in the past. It's a classic Yu Yu moment.
The Great Toy Car Race
Just when you think he’s changed, he hasn't. Not really. He builds a custom race car. Then he puts on a helmet and secretly enters a race for little kids. He wins, of course. The kids are not impressed. They just stare at him like he's a total loser for stealing their trophy.
Lin Sa doesn't get why a grown man is fighting children for a prize. Shen Wu sees Yu Yu looking all proud with his little trophy. He just thinks the guy is shameless and a lost cause. I'm with Shen Wu on this one.
An Unlikely Dogsitter
A Medical Emergency
Yu Yu still doesn't understand why Xia Xiaoman is so attached to her dog. He thinks having a pet waiting for you at home is a weird concept. Still, he helps her carry her groceries home, which is nice of him.
Later, he hears a noise outside his door. He's working on some new invention. He finds his neighbor, Xia Xiaoman, rolling on the ground in pain. He does the right thing and rushes her to the hospital.
Gu Yejia is the doctor on call. She tells Xia Xiaoman she has appendicitis. It requires a small surgery. She’ll need to stay in the hospital for more than a week. Xia Xiaoman needs clothes and other items from her apartment. She doesn't trust her weirdo neighbor, so she asks a friend to get her stuff.
The Dog Gets Passed Around
Shen Wu visits Xia Xiaoman to see how she's doing. He offers to take her dog while she recovers. He thinks the dog is a fun novelty. His girlfriend does not agree. She wants the dog gone. Now Shen Wu has a problem. He has to find a new home for the dog.
He and Gu Yejia decide to dump the dog on Yu Yu. Yu Yu is having none of it. He physically blocks the door to keep them and the dog out. But later, he sees them sitting on a park bench, looking completely defeated. He shows up like some kind of reluctant hero. He agrees to take the dog, but only for five days.
Man vs. Dog
A Battle of Wills
Yu Yu brings the dog home. He measures its food with scientific precision. He even cooks himself a fancy meal, puts on music, and has a one-sided conversation with the dog while they eat.
Xia Xiaoman is about to go into surgery. She finds out Yu Yu has her dog and completely panics. She trusts him so little that she almost cancels her own surgery to go home.
Yu Yu starts rushing home from work every day. It doesn't matter. The dog is a whirlwind of destruction. Xia Xiaoman calls and wants to see her dog. Yu Yu just flat-out refuses. He tries to give the dog to Lin Sa, but he can't go through with it. He even calls his mom for help.
The Slow Thaw
He installs a security camera to monitor the dog. He watches the live feed and sees his apartment getting torn to shreds. He can’t handle it. He rushes home and cleans the entire place wearing full protective gear.
Gu Yejia suggests a colleague could watch the dog for a bit. Yu Yu says no. He starts taking the dog on morning runs. You can see he’s actually starting to accept the little guy.
Then, the dog knocks over his precious kids' race trophy. It shatters. Yu Yu loses it. He angrily takes the dog over to Gu Yejia's place. But as he leaves, he gives her very specific instructions on what the dog needs to eat.
Shen Wu keeps telling him how great it is to have someone waiting for you at home. Yu Yu thinks he's just being annoying. He gets back to his apartment. He sees that the wind from an open window knocked the trophy over. The dog didn't do it. He feels a sudden wave of guilt. Just then, Gu Yejia calls. The dog is gone. Yu Yu calls her an idiot and immediately rushes over to help find it.
