Episode Summary
Gu Yejia gets ambushed by her father and Yu Yu in a matchmaking attempt, leading to a confrontation about her happiness. Yu Yu displays bizarre behavior by hosting Yejia's father in a hallway but redeems himself slightly by cooking a comforting meal for Yejia. Yejia learns her father remarried. After a disastrous date, Yejia's suitor becomes Yu Yu's client, leading to a physical altercation that Yu Yu tries to solve with security footage.

The Ambush
Gu Yejia walks straight into a trap. She sees Yu Yu acting strange. He is stiff, overly polite, and suddenly calling her "Jiajia" like they are childhood friends. It rings false immediately. She tries to bolt. Yu Yu drops the act and gets serious. He brings up her late mother. That is a low blow.
Then she spots him. Her dad is sitting right there. It is a classic two-on-one setup. These two conspired to corner her. Yu Yu realizes he is the third wheel and bails. Yejia doesn't play nice. She tells her dad straight up that forcing a marriage just makes everyone miserable. She asks if he really wants that for her. He stays silent. She leaves him there to think about it.
Socially Awkward is an Understatement
Yu Yu and Yejia run into each other later. It is awkward. They part ways angry. She bumps into Xia Xiaoman on the street but is too annoyed to even say hello.
Yu Yu continues to baffle everyone. A night market opens downstairs. He hates noise. He hates crowds. Yet, he tells his partners, Lin Sa and Shen Wu, that he loves it. They don't buy it. They think he is acting like a child or going through early menopause. Xia Xiaoman spots him later at that market buying a fish. She sends a picture to Yejia just to prove he is actually there.
Hallway Hospitality
Yejia’s dad decides to visit Yu Yu. He probably expects a warm welcome. He doesn't get one. Yu Yu makes the old man walk up the stairs. Then, he leaves him standing in the hall while he puts his new goldfish away. He doesn't invite the dad inside. Instead, he drags a table and chairs out into the hallway. He hosts his guest in the corridor. The guy has zero social skills.
Later, Yu Yu goes to Yejia complaining of a stomach ache. He slips up and mentions her dad. Yejia realizes they are still in contact. She tracks her father down and drags him to the hospital for a checkup. On the way, he drops a bomb. He remarried. Yejia is shocked. She pretends to be cool about it, but you can tell it stings.
The Secret Chef
Yu Yu presents a design to a client. The family loves it. The price tag, however, is a problem. The vibe gets tense. Lin Sa and Shen Wu jump in to smooth things over. They barely save the deal.
Back at home, Yejia eats a meal she thinks her dad prepared. It is delicious. She starts crying. She feels like she finally understands him. She asks why he cooked all this. He didn't. He tells her Yu Yu made it. The sentiment shifts, but the food is still good. After her dad leaves, she sends a voice note to her late mother. She realizes Yu Yu is weird, but he pays attention to the details.
Bad Dates and Security Tapes
Yejia forces herself to go on another date. The guy is too aggressive. She hates it. Xia Xiaoman calls her, and Yejia uses it as an escape route. She meets up with Xiaoman to vent. Yu Yu joins them and immediately puts his foot in his mouth. He suggests Xiaoman should look for divorced men over thirty. Xiaoman is not amused.
Karma works fast. Yejia’s bad date turns out to be Yu Yu’s new client. They get into an argument at the office. Chaos ensues. Someone gets slapped in the confusion. The client is furious and demands an apology. Lin Sa tells Yu Yu to just say sorry. Yu Yu refuses. He knows he didn't do it. He goes to pull the security footage to prove his innocence.
