The "Fear" of Flying

The secret is out. Nie Xiguang tells Lin Yusen over breakfast that Boss Chen knows about them. Yusen takes this news surprisingly well. He figures it saves him the trouble of making up excuses later. He immediately ships Boss Chen and Wang Xin back to Suzhou on a plane.

Xiguang claims she’s terrified of flying. She insists on taking the slow train. Yusen, being the dutiful boyfriend, agrees to ride the rails with her.

But once they drop the others at the airport, Xiguang drops the act. She admits she flies all the time for family vacations. The fear of flying was a lie. She just wanted an excuse to spend a whole day goofing off in Guangzhou with him. Yusen doesn’t mind the deception one bit.

The World's Nerdiest Date

Yusen asks what she wants to do with their stolen day. Most people would pick an amusement park or a shopping spree. Not Xiguang. She wants to go back to the Qicai Glass Factory. She wants another look at the photovoltaic garden.

They head back to the factory. Boss Wu sets them up with a tour guide. Xiguang grills the poor staff member about architectural structures and energy reuse. She even tries to get cost estimates. The staff member dodges and points her to finance. Xiguang adds him on WeChat anyway to follow up.

Yusen just follows her around taking pictures. The staff gets confused. They see the big boss carrying Xiguang’s bag like an assistant. Xiguang notices the stares. She invents a "remote project responsibility system." She claims she is the project lead, so the boss is just her helper today.

Snacks and Turbulence

After the factory tour, Xiguang feels inadequate. She wants to buy textbooks on photovoltaic tech. Yusen offers her his old books. He admits he isn't an expert either and had to cram just to look competent.

They spend the rest of the day hitting every food spot in the city. By 9 PM, they are stuffed. But Xiguang remembers a specific roast goose shop they missed. Yusen points out they don't have an early flight anymore. They go get the goose.

The next morning, Yusen reveals a surprise. He woke up early and bought every snack Xiguang mentioned missing out on. He calls it his anti-turbulence strategy.

They get on the plane. The turbulence hits. Xiguang grabs Yusen’s hand in a panic. She lets go quickly, looking flustered. It’s not just the plane shaking her up. Yusen breaks out the snacks to distract her.

Divine Intervention and Office Politics

They land safely. Yusen suggests Xiguang take the leftover snacks to Shanghai for her friends. He wants to bribe her social circle into saying nice things about him.

Xiguang insists on a solo trip to Ping'an Temple. She bans Yusen from entering. Her last wish came true too fast, and she needs to adjust the terms. She prays to cancel the previous misunderstanding and asks for Yusen’s safety. Yusen catches her looking guilty when she walks out. She admits her wish involved him.

Meanwhile, back at the bank, things are heating up. Rimang Energy’s funds crash. Huaya Bank survives the hit because Zhuang Xu warned them in time. Sheng Zhongkai gives Zhuang Xu full credit. Even Kris apologizes for doubting him.

The team goes out for dinner to celebrate avoiding layoffs. Everyone thanks Zhuang Xu. He tries to be humble and credits leadership. A phone call interrupts the party. It’s Zhuang Fei. Kris assumes it’s a live-in girlfriend. Zhuang Xu corrects her. It’s just his little brother visiting for the holidays.

Expensive Tastes

Back at the office, Xiguang presents two plans for the solar garden. One is practical and cheap. The other is high-tech, integrated, and expensive. She hesitates to spend too much cash given the market.

Yusen picks the expensive one. He wants to set a high standard for employee welfare and show off to future clients.

The mood sours slightly in a finance meeting later. The finance department complains that "Yuancheng"—Xiguang's side—hasn't sent the initial funds yet. Yusen promises to chase it up. Xiguang sits there in awkward silence. Her family is the major shareholder causing the delay.
