Episode Summary
Nie Chengyuan collapses from stress and is diagnosed with a brain tumor. His mistress's daughter, Nianyuan, realizes she was scammed out of her money. Chengyuan cuts off financial support to his mistress, Fangping, leading her to file a police report about the scam. Chengyuan blames his daughter Xiguang for the police involvement. Xiguang finally explodes, revealing that Nianyuan caused the car accident that ended Lin Yusen's surgical career and calling out her father's years of neglect.

The House of Cards Collapses
Things are finally falling apart for the freeloaders. Qian Dashun corners Qian Fangping. He spills the beans that Ma Nianyuan borrowed money from him. Fangping already knows the bad news. Nianyuan got scammed. Her so-called rich friend Qianqian has vanished into thin air.
The drama moves to the Nie family home. Nie Chengyuan walks in to find thugs waiting for him. They want their money. Dashun has receipts and recordings to prove the debt is real. Chengyuan calls Fangping. She puts on her usual act and plays the victim. Chengyuan just wants this to go away. He decides to have his company cover the debt to avoid a scandal.
Grandma isn't having it. She runs out and stops him. She tells him he can't keep cleaning up their messes forever. She suggests calling the police instead. The stress hits Chengyuan all at once. His head splits in pain. He collapses right there on the floor.
A Medical Emergency
They rush Chengyuan to the hospital. The CT scan brings bad news. He has an acoustic neuroma. It’s a type of brain tumor. Nie Xiguang is devastated. Lin Yusen steps up to help read the charts. He confirms the tumor is benign for now. But it needs more testing and likely surgery.
Chengyuan lies in a coma for a while. His parents watch him with regret. They remember how healthy he was before he divorced Jiang Yun. Ever since he got involved with Fangping, his life has been a mess.

The Scam Unravels
Nianyuan goes to Suzhou to hunt down her friend Qianqian. She finds nothing. The fancy office was just a temporary rental. The "rich heiress" backstory was a lie. Even the restaurant staff were paid actors. Nianyuan realizes she lost everything.
She goes home and tells her mother the truth. Fangping calls Chengyuan again. He sounds furious on the phone. She gets scared and shuts up.
Back at the hospital, the private doctor confirms the diagnosis. It is a nerve tumor. It has to come out via craniotomy. Chengyuan demands the best experts in the country. The private doctor recommends two people. One is a young surgeon with extensive overseas experience named Lin. Xiguang breaks the news. That surgeon is Lin Yusen.
Desperate Measures
Fangping panics about money. She tries to visit the hospital. Chengyuan refuses to see her. He won't even take her calls. His assistant passes on the message. No more money. No hospital address. She is cut off.
Fangping sits at home, anxious. A friend calls Nianyuan about the scam. The friend's family found out and insists on going to the police. They ask if Nianyuan wants to join the case. Fangping does the math. If Chengyuan dumps them, they need that stolen money back. She agrees to file a police report to save herself.
Xiguang Finally Snaps
The surgery plan is set. They will bring in a German expert, Dr. Schneider. Xiguang and Grandma visit Chengyuan's room. Lin Yusen waits downstairs.
Chengyuan gets a call from the police. They tell him a fraud case has been opened. He assumes Xiguang reported it. He starts yelling at her. He claims she doesn't care about the big picture or the company's reputation. Xiguang stays calm at first. She says she didn't report it. She also points out that it wasn't her money that got lost.
Chengyuan realizes Fangping must have called the cops. But the damage is done. Xiguang has had enough. She unloads years of frustration. She reveals the dark secret about the car accident. She tells him Nianyuan impersonated her to date Lin Yusen. That lie led to the crash that ruined Lin Yusen's career.
She doesn't stop there. She reminds him of his neglect. He never visited her at school. He barely asked about her work. He only cared about Fangping. Even now, he protects the people who hurt his own daughter.
Jiang Yun arrives during this argument. She hears everything from the hallway. She planned to be civil. Now she hates Chengyuan more than ever. She takes Grandma home. Then, she takes Xiguang and Lin Yusen out for a nice dinner.
