Episode Summary
Wu Feifei discovers her father's lies but ultimately chooses to protect him, betraying Gao Fei's trust. A flashback reveals that Qu Meng killed a blackmailing driver in the 90s, and her baby was given to Gao Dahua to raise. In the present, Feifei obstructs the police investigation to shield her father, while Gao Fei hands over key evidence to Detective Su Min.

Feifei Makes Her Choice
We start with Wu Feifei staring at a box of videotapes. The illusion is shattered. She knows her father, Wu Guohao, is a liar. He keeps preaching about how the International Club is a shrine to his memories with Li Hongyue. But actions speak louder. Li Hongyue wanted to destroy those memories. Wu Guohao refused. He was ready to burn the place down just to save the Penglai Group.
Feifei is done. She sets up a meeting at a bar. She wants her dad to face her and Gao Fei. She wants the truth on the table.
Wu Guohao actually shows up. Gao Fei wastes no time. He demands Guohao call Detective Su Min right then and there. But then, the betrayal happens. Feifei smacks the phone out of Gao Fei’s hand.
Here is the twist. If her dad hadn't shown up, Feifei was ready to burn him. She would have told Gao Fei everything. But he came. That small act was enough for her to pivot. She chooses to protect her little family unit. She asks for leniency. Gao Fei looks like he just got punched in the gut. He can’t believe she is siding with a hypocrite after everything she knows.
The Evidence Slips Away
Feifei’s flip-flopping has immediate consequences. While everyone is distracted, Chen Kang sneaks into Long Yu’s hospital room. He swipes the golden ball that belonged to Li Hongyue.
Guohao plays the benevolent father. He tells Feifei she can handle her mother's relic however she wants. They finally have a heart-to-heart. Feifei convinces herself that her dad was just a puppet for Xu Peng back in the day. She buys into the narrative that he didn't want to do those bad things. This solidifies her resolve. She tells him she will save him, even if it means sacrificing the entire Penglai Group.
A Shower Head and a Body Dump
We jump back to the early 90s for a brutal history lesson. The driver, Zhang Biao, is a piece of work. He was supposed to buy medical supplies for Gao Dahua. Instead, he followed Dahua to a rental unit. He found out Qu Meng was pregnant.
Zhang Biao smells money. He tries to blackmail Li Hongyue. She lies and says the baby belongs to Boss Zhao. She agrees to pay him ten grand to shut him up. But Zhang Biao is greedy and smart. He suspects the baby actually belongs to Yang Wenyuan.
He raises the price. He wants twenty grand, cash, immediately. Li Hongyue doesn't have that kind of liquidity on hand. Zhang grabs the phone to call Xu Peng and Wu Guohao. Panic sets in. Li Hongyue tries to stop him. Gao Dahua jumps in to help.
It’s a mess. They can’t overpower him. Zhang Biao slams Li Hongyue in the stomach. While Dahua and Li struggle to hold him down, Qu Meng drags herself out of bed. She grabs a heavy metal shower head. She bashes Zhang Biao until he stops moving.
The Origin Story
Gao Dahua is the cleaner. He drives off to dispose of Zhang Biao’s body. When he returns, he refuses the hush money. He calls it good karma. He knows how hard these women have had it.
Li Hongyue makes a decision. She knows Dahua and his wife, Zhang Jing, have been unable to conceive. She trusts him. She hands Qu Meng’s baby over to him. Dahua agrees to raise the child as his own. He takes the baby and leaves.
Obstruction of Justice
Back in the present, Xu Zhiyang gets out of prison. Feifei picks him up. She silently lets him know she is pregnant with his child.
Gao Fei goes to the police station. He spills everything to Su Min. The problem is, he has a great story but zero physical proof. Su Min pays a visit to the Wu family anyway. Feifei is in full defense mode. She refuses to admit the victim in the fire was Li Hongyue. When the police bring up DNA testing, she shuts it down, claiming it’s against regulations. She is actively covering up the truth now. Gao Fei tries to talk sense into her, but she is too far gone.
Gao Fei hands over the golden ball to Su Min as evidence. He explains why he hid it, and Su Min cuts him some slack.
The episode leaves us with a moral standoff. Xu Zhiyang and Feifei initially agree to hand over the videotapes. But Wu Guohao plays the victim card again. He asks his daughter to put herself in his shoes. He asks if she really has it in her to destroy her own father.
