Episode Summary
Wang Fei suffers a major heartbreak when he discovers his crush, Jin Tong, actually likes the much older Ma Weiguo. Meanwhile, Tong Qiu spirals after being fired from the bank and flees to Xi'an to avoid her friends. Ma Weiguo finally admits his feelings for Jin Tong to his friends but reveals he is rejecting her solely because his declining health prevents him from offering her a future.

The Love Guru Fails
Wang Fei needs advice on girls. He goes to Ma Weiguo for tips on how to confess his feelings. Ma Weiguo plays it cool. He claims he never chases girls because they always come to him. It’s a total bluff, but Wang Fei buys it.
Their chat gets interrupted by a loud crash. Grandpa Tong fainted while rushing to finish a manuscript. He knocked over a precious Jingdezhen porcelain vase from his collection. Ma Weiguo wants to drag him to the hospital immediately. Grandpa Tong refuses. He insists he is fine and goes right back to work. He cares more about the deadline than his health.
Career Crash
Ma Weiguo finally has the cash to buy those financial products from Tong Qiu. He expects her to be happy. Instead, she stalls. She tells him to wait. This isn't like her. Ma Weiguo senses something is wrong.
He does some digging. Tong Qiu didn't just have a bad day. The bank fired her. Someone framed her. Ma Weiguo tells Wang Chunsheng and Li Lianbao the bad news. They are furious on her behalf.
Ma Weiguo tries to cheer her up. He invents a fake "promotion celebration" to get her out of the house. Tong Qiu isn't having it. She lies about taking Zhang Xiaoshi to a prenatal checkup in Xi'an just to escape the pity party. She runs to Xi'an, but she can't outrun the stress. She and Zhang Xiaoshi end up in a heated argument. They are both burnt out.
Busted by Mom
Wang Fei is busy at home. He crafts a creative gift box for his crush. He thinks he is slick and hides it under his bed. He pretends to study.
It doesn't work. Li Jing cleans his room and finds a confession card under the bed. She shows it to Wang Chunsheng. The parents panic. They don't know how to handle puppy love. They argue over who has to deal with it. Li Jing draws the short straw. She has to have the awkward talk with her son.
The Wrong Guy
Wang Fei takes his gift to see Jin Tong. He spots that luxury car again. He assumes it’s a romantic rival and tries to chase the driver off.
This backfires. The driver isn't there for Jin Tong. He is Jin Tong’s best friend, and he is looking for Ma Weiguo. He wants to talk to Ma about Jin Tong’s feelings. Wang Fei overhears everything. He realizes Jin Tong likes Ma Weiguo, not him. He leaves, completely crushed. Jin Tong texts him later to meet up. Wang Fei knows he doesn't stand a chance. He makes up an excuse and ghosts her.
Hard Truths
Ma Weiguo goes home with a heavy heart. He thinks about Jin Tong’s confession. He almost writes a new wish in his notebook but stops himself. He can't do it.
The neighborhood gossip mill starts turning. A neighbor overhears Ma Weiguo’s conversation. Soon, everyone knows. Li Jing tells Wang Chunsheng that Ma Weiguo and Jin Tong like each other. Wang Chunsheng thinks the age gap is ridiculous.
Li Lianbao runs into Ma Weiguo outside the roast duck shop. Wang Chunsheng jumps in. He thinks Li Lianbao is mad about the romance. He tries to defend Ma Weiguo. It turns out Li Lianbao was actually mad about an old grudge involving Li Jing, but now the secret is out.
Ma Weiguo stops the speculation. He admits it. He has feelings for Jin Tong. But he drops a bomb. He says he keeps his distance because of his health. He knows he doesn't have a long future, and he won't drag her down with him.
