Episode Summary
A surgeon gets into a car crash right before a blind date. A year later, the girl he was supposed to meet, Xiguang, is graduating college and dealing with a complicated crush on a guy named Zhuang Xu. Zhuang Xu helps Xiguang get a job interview with the former surgeon, which makes Xiguang's rival jealous.

Tragedy and Crushes
We start back in 2011. We meet Lin Yusen at Shanghai Songshan Hospital. He is a star surgeon. He just pulled an eight-hour shift in the OR and the surgery was a success. His bosses are thrilled with him.
Things look great for him. An old friend named Shao Jiaqi calls him up. Shao wants to set him up on a blind date with the daughter of a man named Nie Chengyuan. Lin Yusen actually met her once and liked her. He agrees. The next day, he drives to Suzhou for the date. But life takes a nasty turn. A massive truck hits his car on the highway. We leave him lying in a pool of blood.
At that exact same time, we see the other side of the story. Nie Xiguang is at home gaming with her cousin. Her dad hired a tutor named Zhuang Xu. She opens the door and sees him. He is handsome. The air suddenly feels fresher. She is instantly smitten.
Graduation Blues
We jump forward to the next year. Nie Xiguang is about to graduate. She comes back to Shanghai after an internship in Wuxi. Her roommates, Xiaofeng and Siliang, meet her at the school gate. But there is a surprise guest. Zhuang Xu is there too. He is standing next to Ye Rong.
The vibe is weird. Ye Rong announces that Zhuang Xu landed a job at a bank in Shanghai. They are going to celebrate. Zhuang Xu asks Xiguang why she came back a day early. She doesn't get a chance to answer. Xiaofeng sees that Ye Rong looks annoyed and drags Xiguang away.
The Argument
Later, the group goes out to eat. Xiguang heads to the restroom. When she comes out, Zhuang Xu follows her. He is settling the bill but wants to talk. He brings up her post-graduation plans. He accuses her of having no backbone. He thinks she just does whatever her family tells her to do.
Xiguang pushes back. She says her family has a business, so she doesn't need to start from scratch. She also tells him he has no right to judge her decisions. It gets tense. They have been giving each other the cold shoulder all dinner. A lot has changed between them.
Eavesdropping and Family Gossip
The roommates want to go to KTV. Ye Rong suggests Zhuang Xu pay for it. Xiguang bails on the plan. Her uncle, Jiang Ping, calls and asks her to stay at his place.
While waiting for the bus, her cousin Jiang Rui calls. He wants his game console. Xiguang has to go back to the dorm to get it. She climbs into her top bunk. Suddenly, her roommates come back early because KTV was full. They start talking. Xiaofeng complains that Zhuang Xu seemed distracted all night. Ye Rong defends him. Xiguang stays perfectly still until they leave again.
She heads to her uncle's house. She thinks about the past. She used to live with her uncle but moved to the dorms for six months because of Zhuang Xu. That move caused a rift between Zhuang Xu and Ye Rong. She still has feelings for him. It is a mess.
At her uncle's house, her aunt makes a late-night snack. The conversation turns to Xiguang's parents. Her aunt is bitter. She thinks Xiguang's mom married down. Her dad, Nie Chengyuan, was supposed to be a steady guy. But he ended up cheating with a woman named Qian Fangping. Her uncle tells the aunt to stop gossiping in front of the kids.
The Job Fair
Xiguang spends a few days writing her thesis. She can't get Zhuang Xu's insults out of her head. She wants to prove she has independence. She decides to go to a job fair with her roommates.
She is new at this. She ends up with three leftover resumes at the end of the day. Zhuang Xu shows up again. He sees she is struggling. He grabs her resume. He says he knows someone at Shengyuan Company. He walks over and hands it in for her.
Here is the kicker. The guy accepting the resume at Shengyuan is Lin Yusen. He survived the crash.
Ye Rong is furious. She wanted to apply to Shengyuan too. Zhuang Xu never mentioned he had a connection there. He made her go through the normal process but helped Xiguang instantly. To make matters worse, Ye Rong loses her phone.
Two days later, Xiguang gets an interview notice from Shengyuan. Ye Rong is still waiting.
