Plot Synopsis

The story kicks off in the mid-70s and runs through the mid-90s. It follows a groupof "educated youth" after they returned to the city from the countryside. The main duo, Yu Leshan and Sheng Xuezhu, start off by getting on each other's nerves. They spend the next 15 years tangled upin business ventures and a complicated romance, all set against the backdropof China's major economic reforms.

It’s not just a love story. You get a whole groupof characters trying to make it during that massive societal shift. Some ride the wave and succeed. Others, like the character Qiao Zhengjunplayed by He Minghan, lose their way chasing money and ambition, serving as a cautionary tale. The show also digs into family dynamics and friendships.

The leads are Jian Renzu and Lu Nuo, joined by actors like Zhang Keying and Nian Zhen. They also brought in some veteran actors like Wang Liyun for special appearances, so the cast looks solid.

The whole thing was shot on location in Nanjing, using nearly 500 different scenes. You'll see famous spots likePurple Mountain and Nanjing University. If you're into seeing what the city looked like back in the day, this might be for you.
