Plot Synopsis

This show is about what's inside Wu Xie'sprivate notebook. Wu Xie, an antique shopowner, gets his hands on a mysterious silk book, and his Third Uncle, Wu Sanxing, finds a maphidden inside it.To find the book's original owner, the uncleputs a team together, bringing along Wu Xie,Panzi, the quiet guy Zhang Qiling, and Da Kui to check out the location on the map.

The story unfolds along twopaths. One follows Wu Xie's crew as they explore an undergroundpalace, while the other involves investigating a sunken shipat the bottom of the sea.The original author, Nanpai Sanshu, is the head writer this time, and directorPan Anzi, who filmedReunion: The Sound of theProvidence, brings back that familiar suspense-adventure style.

The biggest draw of this show is its authenticity. The bronze caskets, jade burial suits, and eerie undergroundpalaces described in the book are all brought to life.Theproduction team didn't skimp; the art director is Ma Yun from theGhost Blows Out the Lightseries, and the costume designer is Zhong Jiani fromLove Like the Galaxy, so visually, it's solid.

Theplot moves quickly, with one mystery after another.Wu Xie's team faces attacks from various creatures underground while also needing to solvepuzzles, which ispretty thrilling.A bronze fish with snake-scalepatterns they discover later brings Wu Sanxing'spast into the light. After his uncle disappears following a meeting with a mysterious woman named A'ning, Wu Xie has no choice but to lead the team on a new journey to find him.

The cast this time is interesting. Wu Sanxing isplayed by Francis Ng, a veteran actor who accurately captures the character's mysterious and complex nature.The dependable actor Cao LeiplaysPanzi.

Hepreviouslyplayed Wu Xie inThe Sea of Sandand is known as the "people's choice" for the role, showing both Wu Xie's early innocence and later growth.Zhang Qiling isplayed by Cheng Xiang, whose cold demeanor and sharpskills are a great fit for his nickname, "Mute Bottle."WangPangzi (Fatty Wang) isplayed by Sun Gechuan-ye,providing comic relief and keeping the team's spirits up.
