Plot Synopsis

The story centers on Chu Yu,played by Song Qian. She's a general's daughter whose family gets framed and her father dies in battle. She is determined to find out the truth behind the deaths of 70,000 soldiers. To do that, she makes a bold move. She marries into the Wei family.

Ding Yuxiplays Wei Yun. His entire family's army was annihilated in a battle, and he's the sole survivor. Here's the twist. Chu Yu marries in as the widow of his deceased older brother, making her his "sister-in-law".

So you have a "sister-in-law" who's secretly investigating her family's case, and a "brother-in-law" who is deeply suspicious of everyone after his family's tragedy. That dynamic alone is interesting.

At first, he doesn't trust her one bit. But they are forced to work together. They have to fight off foreign invaders and uncover a huge conspiracy within the royal court. Through these life-or-death situations, they gradually developfeelings for each other. Thisprogression from suspicion to trust is a lot more compelling than love at first sight.

Judging by thepromotional materials they've released, from trailers toposters, this is a high-budgetproduction. Theplot mixes grand national duty with apersonal, slow-buromance.

Thepairing of Song Qian and Ding Yuxi is also a fresh choice. Thepremise is solid and the actors are inplace. Now it all comes down to the execution by the director and writers to see if it truly delivers.
